“Bloody Good Pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

If you're looking for a pub that has traditional values steeped in history, with good steaks and a few bars that satisfy everyone's needs then this the place. Get stuck into the beer 'off the wood'- the last of the pubs that serve beer out of wood kegs and place a bet on the horses. The people are a mix of old timers holding the bar up, the cool kids of Brisbane and everything in between.

We went there to catch up with some old friends in Brisbane, first thing I noticed was that it's very very noisy, but it is also very busy, food was okay, atmosphere was olde Australian lots of old pics to look at, and there are a few different bars in there to choose from...even somewhere to have a quieter drink, all in all OKAY !

Great place to visit for long lunch or a few evening drinks Rum bar is impressive bar staff are helpful with a good knowledge. Food was good great steaks. Different section of the pub for what you may want to do a quiet drink watch sport in massive screen or bet in the tab some evenings listen to so live music. Also in great location for Albion Park races.

Very lively vibe. Beer from the Wood, unique in Brisbane. Get to choose your own steak from an array of meats. Shame that the Poms were getting thumped down the road at the Wacker! Great banter!
Food was good value and great steak. Large patio area to enjoy the sun.

I took my family to the Brekki creek the other day & it was great. Sitting in the bar looking at all the old photos the old design of the building really gave it a lot of character. Then came lunch, a nice big rump steak Cooked perfectly with chips and salad .

The hotel looks really impressive when first arriving towards it; interesting, huge, historic.

Parking was easy ( midweek) and access to the building fine, although we seemed to find it tricky to know which of the many rooms/bars/areas we were to go to.

Didn't spot an obvious reception area, but a wandering staff member we spoke to quickly showed us to our pre-booked table for 10.

Impression was of a lively place with upbeat atmosphere.

Food ordering was unusual; Self-ordering, lining up in the queue and all your table companions have to go in a bunch, so the food can be ready to be collected at the same time. It felt like the grand historic and the McDonalds world's met in in a disjunctive way.

I had a crumbed chicken breast which was very dry and tasteless. My table companions had steaks and they were happy with those.

Would return for the lively rendezvous and sense of destination, but not for the food necessarily.

I ate at the Brekki Creek a few times last week because the steak was that good. I had the Brekki Rump, aged 8 weeks and the T bone another night. Both were excellent. The portions were large. The Rum Bar is really great looking and the collection of rum staggering. They also have a good selection of Australian craft beer on tap. The only suggestion I would make is that they have more than 1 person on the register where you order food, she was good but no one can work through a line of 30 to 40 people quickly. Another cashier would halve the wait time. Definitely recommending the Brekki Creek to my friends and will go back when back in Brisbane.
