I stayed here for the second time this year, just in a different room. Last time we had a King Suite and this time it was a regular double room on Level 1. I stayed for 2 nights as I had an event at the BCEC. We checked in very late, and the team on reception and valet did an outstanding job and making us feel welcomed. The room itself was very comfortable, and was inward facing so there was no noise from the bar downstairs that I was slightly concerned about. The bathroom was looking pretty tired, with older bench tops and tiling but it did the job. The location can't really be beat if you are staying in Southbank, with so many good eats a few steps away.

Dear Katiekatie119,

Thank you for your comments and 2nd review for Rydges South Bank Brisbane.

It is pleasing to read that even though your room was a little smaller during this trip, that you still found it comfortable and meeting your expectations.

I can only imagine that staying on that side of the hotel would have been extremely convenient, given your business at the BCEC just next door.

I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kind Regards,

Joel Gordon

Fantastic location right on Southbank, friendly SMILING staff from the Front Desk, Housekeeping and Concierge. We had a beautiful King Suite that was the most spacious and cleanest I have ever stayed in. Concierge where so friendly and helpful with directions and arranging a car for us for our trip home to the Airport. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, extra towels already in the room, soap that you actually hold in your hand, breakfast had a great assortment of Jams and Spreads and the sauce was already on the table in Jars, instead of the standard hash browns there were Potato Rossti's, great assortments of eggs and a smiling face to prepare any Omelette you desire and the Cafe and Bar on the ground floor had great food, I was so impressed with Rydges it was such a great Hotel after staying many years with Crowne Plaza group I will be staying with Rydges from now on for all our trips.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 415.

Dear Loreen G,

Thank you for your fantastic feedback surrounding your recent stay with us at Rydges South Bank Brisbane.

It is personally rewarding to read the staff at the hotel had made such an impact on your stay with us. The hotel invested in new beds to all of our guest rooms last year and the positive feedback has been overwhelming.

I am glad to see you have enjoyed your experiences in the hotel’s restaurants. The newly opened Bacchus Restaurant puts on an amazing spread of hot and cold items each morning. The CBD Bar & Cafe invites the world in with the amazing aromas of freshly ground coffee.

Thank you again for the review and I look forward to welcoming you to the hotel in the near future.

Kind regards

Stayed 1 night recently in room 719. Location is perfect for Southbank attractions, ballet, QPAC, Convention Centre. GABBA easily accessible by bus. Parking at hotel but must use valet service. Cost $35 or $45 I think. Public carpark opposite in Grey St but probably not cheaper. Reception very helpful. They were able to book a restaurant for us which is often fully booked. Hotel has a bar that fronts onto the street and is used by the passing traffic. It is very popular and often very crowded. Serves a great wood fire pizza. Rooms are old and tired. Lifts, lobby and hallways are extremely tired. We had a 1pm checkout and were bugged 3 times by cleaners from noon to 12.30 to see if we were leaving yet. Overall nice stay and would go back because of the location. But at $300 plus per night I expect more.

Dear DragonFan,

Thank you for the recent feedback in relation to your stay with us here at the Rydges South Bank Brisbane.

It is excellent to read your comments surrounding the reception team at the hotel. The valet service is the only option for onsite parking, however if parking is pre booked at the time of making the reservation you will receive a discount.

The refurbishment of the Podium Level which was completed at the start of this year has been a wonderful addition however now completed our attention will move to the rooms side of the hotel.

The South Bank location is possibly one of the best Brisbane has to offer for all the reasons mentioned in your review.

I hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kind regards

We have stayed in a number of Rydges hotels in Australasia and find they are usually a good standard if a little functional. This one is perfectly located on the South Bank, next to the conference centre and close to the museums. South Bank is a good location for visitors with plenty of restaurants and coffee shops.

Our room was functionally OK but not very well located. On the first floor, at the back of the hotel, it had a small patio between it and a full height wall. The wall was either part of the exhibition centre or the side of the railway area - we couldn't see over it to tell. Either way it meant we had little natural light and could also hear the trains.

Breakfast was comprehensive and good, although the hotel was fond of putting things (bircher muesli, yogurt etc) into tiny shot glasses, and also served juice in little bottles.

Room Tip: Get a room on the river side and as high as possible.

Dear Coddfish,

Thank you for your review regarding your stay here at Rydges South Bank Brisbane.

It is no secret that the hotel is perfectly placed in the heart of South Bank with easy access to both the BCEC & surrounding restaurants.

My apologies that you felt the room wasn't quite up to your expectation, next time you stay with us, I would suggest booking a Queen Deluxe room which will offer 180 degree views out over the Brisbane River & City.

I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kind Regards,

Very friendly staff - well groomed and polite, Could not rate this hotel as a 5 star though, I would call it a 4 star. Why? I left my toothbrush behind expecting that there would be one provided in the bathroom - I was wrong, if I'd asked I may have been given one but seeing as we were only there one night it wasn't worth it.
Also, my car had picked up some bird poo on one of the windows I was hoping that the valet parking staff would have cleaned it up as a lot of real 5 star hotels would have - it's the little things that make all the difference. The rooms are nice and clean and comfortable but a little tired. Very handy to QPAC which is the main reason we chose this hotel.

Dear Ian_and_Roybn,

Thank you for the recent review for the Rydges South Bank Brisbane.

It is pleasing to read your kind words in relation to our staff at the hotel. The Rydges South Bank Brisbane is a 4* property, my apology if you had thought different. Whilst a toothbrush is not available in the guest room, it is available on request from our Guest Service team.

The Valet Team at the hotel provide an excellent service however car detailing is not a requirement of their job.

Thank you again for the review.

Great location on South Bank if you are not interested in shopping whilst in Brisbane. Easy to wander around the parklands, visit Streets Beach and the library and museums. Rooms looking a little tired but staff make up for it with their friendliness. Small issue with being charged twice for minibar - once on checkout and once after we had left - but that was resolved without fuss.

Only disappointment was the new pool which has been completed since our last visit. Was hoping they would put in an indoor heated pool as an alternative to Streets Beach in the winter but unfortunately this is an outdoor unheated pool right next to the bar (and I mean literally) really only good for the "pool party" feel for the "young beautiful people" so to speak.

Had a great little meal in the CBD Restaurant. It was very quiet in there and I think it misses out due to the vast number of options in the area, but to be honest its as good if not better than most of those that pitch themselves as family friendly.

Overall a great option if travelling with children for a couple of days in Brisbane.

Dear howjac,

Thank you for the review surrounding your recent stay with us at Rydges South Bank Brisbane.

The Hotel is fortunate to be located in the heart the bustling South Bank Precinct and Entertainment hub. Whilst the shopping is minimal this side of the river, it is only a short stroll across the Victoria Bridge to the Queen Street Mall.

Please accept my apologies for the duplicate charge for minibar, it is good to see this was resolved promptly.

The transformation of the Podium Level in the hotel has been a welcomed addition; unfortunately an indoor pool was not feasible however the position of the pool attracts a lovely bit of morning sun.

Thank you for the excellent feedback in relation to the CBD Bar & Cafe, your comments are much appreciated.

I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

We stayed for five nights, as we were working at the Brisbane conference centre next door. The hotel is excellently placed for the conference centre and a range of other south bank venues and restaurants. Our room was large, with a lounge and separate bedroom. Despite being right next to the train tracks, the soundproofing was excellent and I don't recall being disturbed by trains at night. Concierge service was excellent. Room service breakfasts were good but the cooked food was gEnerally cold by the time it got to us. I would have rated the hotel more highly but the First day they forgot one of the meals. On the second day they forgot to make up the room.

Room Tip: Try and go for a room overlooking grey st

Dear Malimover,

Thank you for the recent review in relation to your stay with us here at the Rydges South Bank Brisbane,

It is excellent to read you have enjoyed the ease and convenience of the hotel’s location and the vast offerings of the South Bank Precinct.

The King Suites in the hotel are a good choice for those longer stays as they provide a separate lounge and dining room with a good king sized bedroom. It is really pleasing to read the Concierge team have been a standout for you during your stay.

Please accept my apologies for the issues with the temperature of the Room Service and attention to detail with deliveries and servicing.
