What a wonderful time we had. Perfect location, beautiful room, friendly and helpful staff. My husband finally relaxed. Everthing we needed was either at the hotel or just a moments walk away. This is our second time back and we have decided Rydges South Bank gives us the opportunity to relax, no need to get in the car to go to anything our hearts desire. Even saw a movie without the kids. Woohoo. There was always something to do.

Thank you so much for not only making our stay so enjoyable with the high standard of service and facilities but more importantly by treating us like royalty. The free upgrade to a room with Southbank views which was in pristine condiction to the complimentary bottle of Champayne for my birthday really was a personal and much appreciated gesture.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 11th floor have the best views of the city, rooms facing Mt Cootha are more quieter tha...

We stayed in a Deluxe King Suite with River Views for (1) night in March 2012 to attend the Queensland Performance Art Complex. The suite was basically twice the size of a conventional hotel room consisting of a bedroom with ensuite, and a separate lounge/dining room. The furniture was standard hotel style. Both rooms share access to a long balcony with views over the Southbank Parklands, Brisbane River and the Brisbane City Skyline. Note: the bathroom was very small and disappointing for a suite (compared to say a suite at Rydges sister hotel at QT Gold Coast). The door to the bathroom had to be closed before you could step into the bathtub shower and the toilet was wedged between the bathtub and the vanity. Don't expect for two people to use it the one time. Its not a bathroom you would want to spend any time having a soak in the tub. The hotel is adjacent to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Queensland Performing Arts Complex and but is about 1km from downtown. We enjoyed the wide city skyline views however the air-conditioning units on top of the building across the street were particularly noisy when the balcony door was open. We found the hotel staff very polite and willing to assist.
Would we book this hotel again? Yes and No - yes if we had a conference to attend or wanting to go to the theatre because of the hotel's proximity to QPAC and the conference centre, but we wouldnt stay here if we had an engagement downtown or wanted to indulge outselves in a bit of luxury.

Dear “SkierAustralia”

Thank you for your review,

A Deluxe King Suite is a very good choice of room type when staying at Rydges South Bank, the views of the river and city are something special from the higher levels of the hotel. Your comments regarding the ensuite have been noted. The guest rooms and bathrooms are the next focus for the hotels upgrade, and will bring them up to par with the new Podium Level development scheduled for completion in September.

The hotel is ideally located in South Bank, being attached to the Brisbane Convention Centre, the closest hotel for the Queensland Performing Art Centre and the South Bank Parklands at our doorstep.

I hope you will choose Rydges South Bank again, if so I look forward to personally welcoming you to the hotel.

Thanks again Scott

Its all about location with this hotel, which sits opposite the Southbank river. I have stayed here twice now (December 2011 and February 2012), and have enjoyed both stays. The hotel is located on the parklands side of Brisbane, and is approximately 10 to 15 minutes walk to Brisbane CBD. Alternatively a person can walk 300m to South Brisbane railway station and catch the train to the CBD, which is about 2 stops away. This side of the river is the arts district and there are also array of theatres, shops and restaurants. The hotel facilities were modern, and the hotel rooms extremely pleasant, along with the staff. Will definitely stay here again next time I visit Brisbane.

Dear “SydneyAngel_83”

Thank you very much for the review,

The South Bank precinct is becoming a well know location for all of the attractions, entertainment and restaurants you have mentioned in your review.

The Rydges South Bank sits right in the middle and as noted only a short walk the CBD. I am very grateful for your returning visits and look forward to personally welcoming you to the hotel in the near future.

Thanks again for the review.

Stayed for a brief trip to brisbane as wanted to be in southbank so kids could enjoy parklands, museums etc (which are fantastic by the way). Had an 11th floor suite (top floor of rooms) with lovely view to city, river, lights, wheel etc and comfy king bed, balcony etc. Bedroom was nicer than lounge which had horrible old purple couch and seemed a bit dated. Walls are a bit thin and some street noise but you are staying in the city. Sofa bed was uncomfortable as they tend to be and not an ideal option for two kids anyway.
Whilst there has been some efforts to update this hotel it is old and this is evident in the bathrooms, doors, balconies etc which are tired, rusted, chipped etc. Doors need a paint job. In house movies $18 each so none viewed. If they were more reasonable, I'm sure more people would view them. Breakfast on top floor was quite good. Great views, prompt staff but limited options for eggs and coffee. Hotel is currently under scaffolding for some reno work(new pool etc). Apart from being unattractive, this did not impact on our stay. Would I stay again? Probably not. I just prefer something a bit newer and more spacious, especially for a family. Wasn't cheap either.

Room Tip: Level 10 or 11. River/city view.

Dear “TravelalotHobart”

Thank you for your review,

I am glad to see you have mostly enjoyed your stay here at Rydges South Bank. The views from the upper levels of the hotel are truly stunning. I appreciate your comments regarding our staff and will pass them on.

The hotel has commenced the transformation of the old Boulevard Level into the new Podium Level. The new level will have the capacity to cater for up to 500 seated guests in the conferencing rooms, brand new pool, bar and restaurant. The front of the hotel is also currently having a facelift, whilst unattractive at present it set to impress on completion.

I cannot be entirely sure when you stayed, but there is a chef on Level 12 cooking fresh eggs to order.

If you check the Rydges website in the months of June & July there are some great packages available.

Thank you again for the review, I hope you will choose to stay again.

Absolutely loved my stay at Rydges Brisbane and I can't want to come again!

I flew from Melbourne and stayed in a Queen suite for 2 nights for a band's show (Incubus). It was the beginning of my first holiday in 5 years and the staff, service and professionalism made it an absolute joy!

I took advantage of a summer special they were running, which gave you a room upgrade and buffet breakfast. I only ate the fruit for brekkie, but both morning it was fresh and delicious.

The only downside I'd say were the renovations going on at the time - meaning a jackhammer was pounding down below during the days I stayed. I decided not to deduct points for this though, as the work being done was to further improve the hotel.

To anyone thinking of staying - I'd highly recommend it. The staff were so warm and friendly, had a DVD player for me to hire and the late-night club sandwich delivered via room service was the best I've ever had! I'll be raving about the place for years!!

Ryan.

Room Tip: Stayed in room #625 which had a nice enough view

Dear “Ryan M”

Thank you very much for the 5* review,

It is fantastic to see you have enjoyed your stayed with us at Rydges South Bank and glad we had started your holiday with a bang. With any renovations comes unavoidable noise, the noisy works had been limited to the middle of the day for minimal disturbance, so really appreciate your understanding. As mentioned the upgrades are to further improve the hotel and its appearance.

There is nothing better than starting the day with healthy fresh cut fruits and stunning views from the level 12 buffet breakfast.

The staff pride themselves on being welcoming and attentive. The in room dining club sandwich is indeed a popular choice and I believe is definitely up there with the best of them.

I hope I have the pleasure of welcoming you back to South Bank and the hotel in the near future.

Thanks again Scott
