We stayed for one night in the hostel and it was very good. The rooms were clean and also the facilities. The staff was very friendly and helpful (also for tips for the night). It is very expensive, but worth the price.

You will not find the typical backpackers here, more couples and older poeple and even families. If you are looking for a party-hostel, you should look somewhere else. But nonetheless, you can bring your own drinks to the hostel and the roof area, only the bar in the front building is licenced, not the rest of the hostel. We really enjoyed our stay

I only stayed for one night on as I was leaving early the next morning, found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The hostel is only a short walk from the transit centre which is ideal for early buses! The kitchen area was really nice and the small pool area is really nice, with excellent views of the city, especially at night. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Hostel is located near Transit Center and easy walk to center and South Bank Parklands. Staff knows everything and can book tours or Greyhound for you. Cafe is nice with good breakfast. No free wifi, but it is cheap.

Having stayed at lots of the YHAs in Australia, this one is certainly one of the most modern! Up there with the lovely Sydney harbour one. We had a shared room with some quite untidy boys.. but I guess the hostel can't help that! The room itself was very modern, very clean & very quiet. Well located within Brisbane, we had great advice from the staff about visiting the Koala park, loved it would highly recommend!

I have stayed at this YHA three times now and each time felt like coming home. The welcome you get as you walk into the wonderful air conditioned reception is the best I have experienced in Oz. You get a map and all questions answered. Your room has air con, lockers that you could hide in and comfy cozy beds. The people who stay here are lovely, it might be big but making friends is easy! In the kitchen gas burners face each other so you have to say g'day! There is plenty of cooking space with a real friendly guy clearing up the whole area. Great laundry facilities with the novelty of being able to hang washing outside! Well stocked book exchange room and great underground parking at very reasonable rates! Now the pool, what a pool! In my view it makes this a real flashy flashpacker! Rooftop terrace has lots of eating space and is a great place to hang! The YHA has a bar but you can bring alcohol is which is very unusual in Oz. The location is perfect with Coles just over the road! Free pancake Sunday and loads of films being shown in the evenings add to the many little touches here! Staff to me are what make this place! Johno and crew are enthusiastic, hard working and welcoming. You will not meet any better I swear! So trust me when I say this YHA is amazing and I hope to return one day.

Good and clean. Nice kitchen. If you haven't stayed in hostels before this is a good place to start. Been back to Brisbane 5 times and this is where I stay every time. Nice view from the pool and great location.

We went to Australia for 3 weeks last February, travelling up and down the east coast checking out many hotels and apartments through booking.com etc before going, but as our plans weren't set in stone, didn't make many firm reservations until we arrived.
We had shyed away from considering hostels as thought they would be noisy, not as clean and very basic compared to hotels but ended up staying here as we had left it late to book and were on a budget.
Brisbane YHA totally changed our perceptions on hostels. It was fantastic!
We stayed for 2 nights in total in a private twin and although we would have been happy with a shared bathroom, managed to get an en-suite. It offered everything a hotel would for a much better price and we found the option of using the shared kitchen a great help as after weeks of travelling we didn't want to spend money on eating out for every meal.
The staff upon check in were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and the location was good, being close to the city but also the main bus station. There was a real mix of people staying there of all ages and backgrounds from young solo back-packers, to mature couples and even families with younger children - and everyone was very respectful of each others space and surroundings. The roof top pool and dining space was great and the communal amenities were all very well thought out (even down to fresh herbs growing outside to use when cooking).
We compared prices with lots of hotels that we not only stayed at during our trip but also through comparison websites and can truly say we wish we considered hostels more before going and saved ourselves money on faceless hotels. Myself and my boyfriend both work in the hospitality industry, so know the power of reviews and are happy to recommend this place to anyone.
Brisbane has lots to offer in itself, but the Southbank for some Sunday brunch and outdoor music is great and Fortitude Valley has lots of great independent and unique bars.
