“Great hostel”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

This place is great. I've stayed in over 100 hostels and this one is certainly in the top 5 for sure. It's brand new, so has everything that all us backpackers have been moaning about (lockers, individual lamps, convenient bathroom facilities, individual plug sockets, mirrors, blabla) Also the whole kitchen area is huge, plenty of everything to go round!!

Only issue was, we'd booked for two nights, and for whatever reason they'd managed to double book our room. Then, I don't really understand why- the guests who were arriving the next morning's booking was clearly more important than ours, so even though we were there first, they said we had to only stay one night and try our luck at one of the dingy hostels next door so the other people's booking could be honoured..
I was so furious, I don't get why we had to find alternatives, but i guess someone has to suffer for their mistakes.

But the one night we did have was good, and the hostel as a whole is lovely and when we go back to brisbane, we'll try our best to stay here again.

We chose this hostel because of the proximity to the Suncorp Stadium and had never stayed at a hostel before. We were surprised with the quality of the hostel. We stayed in a double room with ensuite. The room was like a very basic hotelroom but was clean. The rooftop pool with the view on the CBD is amazing.
Roma Street Station is the nearest trainstation and is within walking distance from the hostel. The CBD and South Bank are within walking distance from the hostel too.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 211. It's near the staircase and is really noisy at night.

We were impressed with this youth hostel. Very clean and friendly staff. Rooms were a very good size but basic. Location was a 5/10 mins walk from centre of town. Poor carparking facilities. Cafe/bar on location. Didn't use the kitchen facilities as we only stayed one night here but we would stay here again.

Stayed for 2 nights in October 2012. It's a big hostel with plenty of rooms. They have an onsite bar/cafe with a roof top pool and great views of Brisbane city. It was a good spot for exploring the city and was great to be able to hire bikes from the reception. The rooms were very clean (6bed share) with individual lockers with a power source inside. The bathroom was spotless and new. The kitchen was very big and clean full with all the equipment you might need, the only thing lacking was adequate prep area.
Would return but would choose a 4 bed instead. There were people of all ages staying kids to oaps no need to be concerned if you fit into this categories or indeed anything in between.

I stayed here for 4 nights in September. The location is probably a 15 minute walk to the city, but the hostel is REALLY nice so it's worth it. I paid $33/night for a 6 share room. The room itself was kind of small when all six people had suitcases/luggage in it, but it was still fine. Secure lockers for storing valuables, plenty of outlets, reading lights for each bed, airconditioner controls, key card access to bathrooms. The place was kept very clean and they even made announcements over the loud speaker every morning reminding people that checkout is 10am. A lot of older folks seem to frequent this hostel or people living in Brisbane rather than travelling, but for the young backpacker it is still easy to make friends. I would definitelty recommend this place.

Room Tip: rooms on the bottom floor get less light

I stayed three nights at the YHA Brisbane, the newest hostel in that city, and certainly the state-of-the-art budget place to spend a few days.

The hostel was spotlessly clean, extremely well organized, has a café and a bar, plus a large swimming pool, and small alcoves with easy chairs and electric outlets for charging batteries and writing on one’s laptop or netbook.

I slept in a three-bed male dorm that had one bunk bed and a single bed, a table and chair, and large lockers to store one’s belongings. The room was also air-conditioned, which is very useful in summer because Brisbane enjoys a sub-tropical climate.

I highly recommend this hostel and encouraged both young, middle-aged and elderly people to stay there. It’s a real bargain, especially in somewhat pricey Australia.

Room Tip: I recommend a 3-person dorm for greater privacy.

I stayed here only for a few hours in transit I needed to catch up on some sleep so I booked a private room. check in was easy I was able to check in early which was excellent. Staff friendly. There is a cafe downstairs with great meals and drinks.
Only problem I had,was because I was trying to sleep there was a lot of noise outside my door, this was just daytime noise with other guests checking in and getting settled, so i cant really complain. Lack of sleep makes one irritable. the air con I couldn't get to work either and my rooms carpet smelt of stale feet, besides this the overall general cleanliness was good it seems a decent hostel and I will stay here again if I'm in a similar situation.
