Best Western Astor Metropole Hotel & Apartments

Contrary to some of the negative reviews, I found this hotel to be excellent. The Queen studio suite was huge for two people. The staff were always accommodating and the suites were cleaned each day, including weekends.

The only (major) drawback is that you cannot get wifi in the hotel, unless you're situated on the south side and have a clear view of King Edward Park (the park has free wifi). Saying this, I cold only pick up the signal while on the balcony, which wasn't ideal. Sort out the wifi issue and this place would be almost perfect!

My daughter and I had a dreadful 2 night stay. on entry to the room the microwave was dirty from previous guests. The kettle didnt work, had to ask twice for extra towels, waited 1 hour origonaly. Water was leaking out of the ceiling in the shower. We were eventually moved to another room. At the end of stay they tried to overcharge me, when I questioned bill, it was then revised to proper amount.

I've stayed at this hotel plenty of times in past years for business and found it to be quite comfortable, well situated and good value. But I had my first-ever encounter with bed bugs on Thursday night. It wasn't a pleasant experience!

The duty manager upgraded me to a better room, which thankfully didn't have any uninvited guests. But going by previous reviews and the flat response from the desk when reporting the problem and when checking out, I'm not sure if I'll be staying there again.

I have been staying at this hotel for business over the last 4 years when in Brisbane.there has been extensive renovations to the lobby and other areas.l have been content with the meals when l have dined in.It is always a delight to be welcomed by Navi and Alistar at the reception desk and Ganesh in the dining, who always are attentive to any request in an manner that is both professional and friendly manner
The location is great for a short walk to the mall, and a tad further for the gardens by the river

We paid just under $150.00 a night for a triple room which consisted of a double bed and a couch that had been made into a single bed. Fully self-contained. The room was clean & tidy. Management was friendly. Parking is $9.00 per day in a stacking based system, the only drama we had was waiting for an attendant to allow us access to the vehicle when we needed it. Very close to everything, would stay here again.

Upon arrival the lobby area looked very nice indeed but when we were shown to our room - blaah! It was very tired & looked like there had been some attempt at giving the place a "spring clean" with a lick of paint but really it was shabby. The fixtures in the bathroom were very industrial types like the large toilet roll dispenser & liquid hand wash dispenser. The hand towel holder was broken & kept falling off the wall. Cleanliness left something to be desired as the bathroom floor had pubes in the corners.
When I booked I was told we would receive a free bottle of Champagne but had to ask & was told we could only have a bottle of wine free when we ordered a meal in the hotel cafe.
This "hotel" is in a great central location & is reasonably priced so if you don't mind the low standard - fine.
