Stayed 4 days for a work conference
In an industrial area away from city but very close to conference centre
Staff not clued up on hotel amenities or nearby facilities but friendly
Old building, very slow lift, but room furniture is all very modern
Bathroom is old but has had facelift with new painting
Staff clean bathroom and replace all towels and make bed very well each day
Hotel next to highway but not noisy once inside room
Large LCD TV and roomy with small balcony (facing highway!)
About 15 min walk to CBD area or 10 min to restaurants on South Bank
Brisbane seems very quiet after hours on weekdays, so not good for night life
4 days after returning home found my arms covered with bed bug bites (they appear in a row and in clusters, pointy raised itchy lumps, not like a rash) NOT HAPPY JAN :(

Stayed at the Riverside for 3 nights, was really surprised when we got there.
The area the hotel is located seemed a bit industrial, and when walking down the coridoor we thought we were to be left dissapointed, but when you open the door, you're left surprised!
The room, sure it's compact, but there was EVERYTHING you needed in there. It was lovely and modern, very clean, unlike some hotels the Riverside clean bed sheets every day.
It's ideally located, and the stroll into Brisbane City was a short minutes down the Riverside and over the Bridge.
It is also ideally located for Suncorp Stadium which was a selling point to us for the Rugby League!
I would deffintley recommend this hotel.

I stayed here, two nights in Feb. As it may have been the busy season in Brisbane, most hotels were booked up or expensive. Under these circumstances, this hotel provided me a basic, but well-cleaned up room at reasonable price in Southbank.

It's located on the other side of the road from The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), 5mins walk from the nearest station, and only 15 minutes walk takes you to the center of Brisbane via the bridge. Also you can access easily to the southbank parklands and west end area where many nice cafes are located.

The staff were not so friendly as I expected, but not bad.

Cleanliness and location - if you're into museums and galleries, or if you're there for a function at the Convention Centre.
Amenities aren't very customer-oriented - No "Do Not Disturb" or "Don't Clean Room" sign. Also no sign to indicate where the lift is situated.

Good location on the Southbank area: 10 mins walk to Queen St / city centre via footbridge, 5 min walk to the Convention Centre and train/bus station. Friendly enough staff but feels that some things aren't as customer-focused as should be e.g. placement of signage or directions. The lift is in the middle of the hallway, sandwiched between rooms but there aren't any signs indicating such. The only direction you get is from the reception and if you didn't pay attention, you'll have to walk back to the office (to ask again). Also no "Do Not Disturb" sign and doors slam quite loudly - can hear the housekeepers knocking on neighbouring doors. Overall, an OK hotel - nothing spectacular; feels more of a 3* at best rather than 4*.

Highly recommend the night cruise/city tour especially on your first day or so - excellent overview of Brisbane.
