“3* Pretending to be 4*”
Reviewed March 22, 2010

Cleanliness and location - if you're into museums and galleries, or if you're there for a function at the Convention Centre.
Amenities aren't very customer-oriented - No "Do Not Disturb" or "Don't Clean Room" sign. Also no sign to indicate where the lift is situated.

Good location on the Southbank area: 10 mins walk to Queen St / city centre via footbridge, 5 min walk to the Convention Centre and train/bus station. Friendly enough staff but feels that some things aren't as customer-focused as should be e.g. placement of signage or directions. The lift is in the middle of the hallway, sandwiched between rooms but there aren't any signs indicating such. The only direction you get is from the reception and if you didn't pay attention, you'll have to walk back to the office (to ask again). Also no "Do Not Disturb" sign and doors slam quite loudly - can hear the housekeepers knocking on neighbouring doors. Overall, an OK hotel - nothing spectacular; feels more of a 3* at best rather than 4*.

Highly recommend the night cruise/city tour especially on your first day or so - excellent overview of Brisbane.

First impression is that the location is dodgy - looks like an industrial area, it is beside a major road, and seems like the dodgy end of town. It is however, close to the tourist attractions in Southbank/South Brisbane.

We just needed a one night stopover, all we wanted was a clean, comfortable room with a queen bed, air con and secure free parking - and we got exactly that! We got a rate of $99 for the night so we were very happy with our refurbished room. The bathroom was very small, but clean. The beds were new and comfortable with crisp, modern linen (no old-fashioned 90's quilt covers thank goodness!!!)

Personally I would not want to stay here for more than 2 nights as it is small, and right by a busy roadway. We could not hear the road noise except for a couple of emergency vehicles in the night.

With a great location, and a decent price on a discounted travel website, we thought this looked like a good basic hotel. The rooms facilities were basic, yet perfectly fine, spacious enough for 1-2 nights, and the bed itself was comfortable. However, due to the noise from the highways just below, we've had better sleeps on the interstate Indian railways! The hotel has obviously saved by not installing double glazed windows, and the noise throughout the day AND (despite the receptionists point of view) throughout the night was way too loud.
The walls, we also discovered at 2am, were paper thin and our noisy neighbours were hushed with some encouragement. Unfortunately the traffic noise was beyond control.

Clean rooms and friendly staff. Had to pay separately for breakfast. Breafast partly good (the fruits!) and partly incomplete for my taste (e.g. no cheese). Felt a bit like sleeping under the bridge as it was so close and my room was on the ground floor. Not much of a view: saw the wall of the tiny pool. Friday evening seafood buffet very nice.
