“Dont stay here, for your sake.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

Ok, the pros:

* The room has a bed
* Its not a small room, would say its pretty well sized.

And the cons:
* Internet connection costly and hardly working. (No WiFi in my room, only a short cable).
* Breakfast buffet made me, literally, laugh. Small, crowded, stressed personnel, didn't get coffee.
* Pubic hair on the bathroom floor
* My room on the 2nd floor (bad luck, or due to booking through Expedia (Hotels.com)? I dont know, but it seems to happen to me every time I book with Expedia.

I was a bit worried having read some of the reviews but I scored a nice suite, plenty of room except in the bathroom which had a bit of a sewer smell. I also thought it was a bit tight having to pay for coffee in the resturant when breakfast was included

Dear Stuart W, we appreciate your feedback and are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit. We will most certainly investigate the smell you mention coming from the bathroom drain - I'm sure this can be simply rectified, although we apologise if it caused you any discomfort. As you point out, we do charge an additional fee for espresso coffee with breakfast, though filter coffee and tea are included in the breakfast buffet price. However, we use Douwe Egberts' Di Manfredi 'special barista grade' coffee for our espresso blends, so I trust you found this to be of a high standard, despite the extra charge. We hope to see you back on your next trip to Brisbane. Thank you again for your comments.

The apartment was super clean, which was a good start, and I am very picky!! Very nice apartments, lovely staff, and ideal location right in the thick of it....maybe I would ask for a higher floor next time, just to avoid the noise aspect of the inevitable drunks at 4am!

My only two whinges are.....we had a noon checkout, which had not been noted at reception, so we ended up with a knock at the door to boot us out, however, the poor girl was more embarrassed than us, and dealt with the situation professionally. The parking charge was not mentioned until I had completed my booking, and although it was reasonable, it annoys me!

Overall, I would likely stay here again, better value than other lower class accommodation :)

Room Tip: Go higher floor if possible..............there is a fair bit of traffic and people noise on level 12...

Dear Amber666, thank you for your posting, we are delighted that your visit was an enjoyable one. Our central location can sometimes include the sounds as well as the sights of the city - though most guests find that our rooms are very well insulated against external noise. Please let us know if you are returning and we will allocate you a high floor if you prefer. In the central business district parking is at a premium, so most hotels in Brisbane charge for this, though we periodically survey rates to ensure we are well within the normal range of rates. Once again, we appreciate your valuable feedback and look forward to seeing you again at The Sebel Suites Brisbane.

Recently, my daughter booked a suite at the Sebel for the day of her wedding. We had also booked a function room for two hours so that we could entertain guests between the ceremony at the Botanical Gardens and the start of a reception at another venue. Sebel's event management team were fantastic from the beginning. Nothing was too much trouble, and their enthusiastic and supportive approach made everything seem so easy. When bad weather suddenly forced us to move the wedding ceremony from the gardens to the hotel's function room, staff helped to transform the room into a beautiful venue in just a few short hours, complete with wall drapes and white chair covers. The whole day went perfectly. As soon as we thought of something that needed doing, we found that staff had already done it. The suite was beautiful too, plenty of room for lots of girls to get ready in comfort. I highly recommend the Sebel for both its accommodation and event management skills.

Dear Deirdre G, we are delighted to read these comments about your daughter's wedding at The Sebel Suites Brisbane. The weather certainly took a turn for the worst on the day in question, but it is fantastic to hear that our dedicated conference team took the initiative to ensure the spirit of the occasion was not dampened. We very much appreciate you sharing your thoughts and wish the happy couple all the very best for the future. We hope they will consider us for an anniversary visit in the future as well!

Cons: Bath had a constant smell although it looked clean. Lobby service is average

If you're travelling with small children, this is the hotel for you. The location is excellent, just a short walk to Coles or various take away food options. The one bed suites are affordable and provide a small kitchen with a washer drier and dishwasher for maximin convenience. The main room has a fold out bed-settee, which we found to be quite comfortable.
On the downside, it's not a new hotel, so there is some wear and tear here and there. However if you're with kids, it's kind of reassuring as you don't feel they're about to trash the place! ;)

Room Tip: One bed suites are all the same layout. Higher floors have great views.

Dear PhilipFromIreland, Many thanks for your comments and it is great to know that our hotel proved to be a comfortable and convenient option for you when travelling with family. As you have noted, the apartment-style configuration of our suites lends itself quite well to accommodating the 'little ones' - we understand that keeping them happy always sets the tone for the rest of the family's enjoyment! Kind regards and safe travels.
