My wife and I had disagreement in our judgement about this hotel. The appartments were spacey and I liked them cause it still had some grandeur, with the high ceilings and the old hallways, allthough the rooms were stripped down to the bare essentials which gave them an empty atmosphere. My wife did not like that, I on the other hand did not mind it so much. We both agree that Brisbane was a delightful city and we both thoroughly enjoyed walking on the South Bank. I did not really like the fact that the reception closed up at 8pm and the staff could be more friendly, but all in all, I can recommend this hotel, at least the location could not be better.

Funky little boutique apartment hotel. We actually stayed there in 2001, but the drop-down menu here only allowed as far back as 2006. Our suite had a private bedroom, full kitchen, living room, dining area and laundry room. Personal service to no end, and a funky little parking garage that worked like a gumball machine designed by Rube Goldberg - only the valets are allowed to park your car in the garage!

Would not wish to add much more to other reviews. Good "hotel" - but really apartments. Great location bang in the CBD.

Be wary of a couple of things - currently building work being carried out to one side of the hotel (South side I believe). Work starts 7am prompt every day except Saturday - a shame the hotel didn't make us aware of this. This work is likely to continue for at least the next 12 months as it is looking like a major block being built nextdoor. We were not too bothered by it as we were on a working holiday.

Secondly there is no real outside area to relax. To do this, you need to venture to a cafe or the nearby park - part of the Botanical Gardens.

However the accommodation itself - no problems.

Brisbane is not the busiest place in the world, but this hotel is situated at the centre of what activity there is. We didn't detect any noise pollution, but to be safe try to get a room on a higher floor. Its within walking distance of both the cultural south bank and the night-life of the river side.

The rooms themselves are filled with period furniture. The hotel manages to pull it off, although cracks in the veneer are not hard to find. Like most Australian hotels, the rooms come with a kitchenette, which does clash a little with the period style.

No problems with the service.

The rooms are beautiful. Our deluxe room is really a one room flat. Extremely spacious.
The room has a queen bed, a fold-out couch, washer and dryer, kitchenette, dining table, desk, and spacious bathroom. It's a wonderful place to stay. Wi-Fi is available, for a fee. The room rates are extremely reasonable and the location is the best. Just one block from Queen Street Mall and Myer Center is just across the street.

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Albert for 4 nights during May. For the price, the Albert is not bad, especially considering the great location. Located right in the heart of the CBD, there are tons of restaurants, bars and stores a short walk away. Hit Ashala which is just south on Albert Street. While the room was reasonable clean and not a bad size, the service at the Albert did leave a bit to be desired. The front desk was not always the most helpful (except for Jess, who was great). Our shower didn't drain properly and it them several days to get to it (and it still wasn't fixed) and the cleaning folks don't clean after 12. I'd recommend the Albert to anyone concerned with having a great spot in the center of town.

Right in the middle of the city across from the Myer Centre, you could not ask for a better location!
The staff were friendly, the room was nice - nothing fancy, but you only sleep in it :)
And being so close to the CBD we thought it might be noisy but we had a sound nights sleep every night.
The best part was the lovely Cafe Mondial outside. Great food, delicious breakfast and cute waiters that were really friendly!
