“Really good with old style elegance”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

Hotel is old style and therefore without many modern frills. However, the room was really an apartment with lounge, bathroom, kitchen and utility (washing) area. Bed was very comfortable. Location very central and in the heart of things with many restaurants within easy walk. Drove in from airport and was easy to find (even for a Brit on first trip to Brisbane) and had secure, on-site car parking. Hotel does not have restaurant for breakfast or dinner but Cafe Mondial directly outside delivered some excellent meals and was very reasonably priced. I would definitely choose to stay here again when next in Brisbane.

The location is of course amazing. I was expected the decor to be a little dated for the price but it still worked really well. Value for money is great. Cafe Mondial at the base of the hotel does a delicious marinara too. The room was very large, comfy and had the small touches that set a hotel apart like an ipod docking station, a selection of different flavoured teas and shower caps which not many places seem to bother with anymore. Just a nice place to come back to especially if you have work to do or want to eat in your room.

We stayed here for 2 days and loved the fact that it is in the centre of everything. Right across is Myer and lots of restaurants/fastfoods. It's a short walk to Southbank and the train station. The entrance is hidden between 2 restaurants, and the hotel itself is old, but the room is very spacious, compared to newer hotels which are cramped. We stayed in a studio room which can sleep 4, and it has a small dining table, a writing desk, big robes, a huge bathroom and washing machine and dryer. It was really very convenient, as my son threw up on his and my jumpers, and it was good that I was able to wash them the night before we left. If you like space and are not so picky with new furnitures, then this is a great hotel to stay. They let us check in at 8 am, since we had an early morning flight. A very good place to stay especially for long stays.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of June 2012. We arrived very early due to our flight but were given a room
at around 9 am, which was excellent. The cooridoors which were painted in dated colours and seems a little worse for the wear were in contrast to the lovely comfortable and spacious bedrooms. The bathroom was very dated and certainly in need of an upgrade. However, overall we enjoyed our experience at the Royal Albert. We had room service burgers that were excellent and really enjoyed the adjoining cafe/restaurant. The central location was also a huge plus for such a short stop over in Brisbane.

The Royal is so well placed - right in the heart of the CBD, and is within walking distance of the department stores, music stores, Brisbane Mall etc. There is a restaurant right outside the door which charges your meal back to your room. A taxi rank is right across the street, and cabs a-plenty! The staff are just great and nothing is too much toruble. The rooms are self catering apartments, actually, and of course this is so comfortable. No more sitting on the bed watching TV or reading as there is a great sofa! Love the Royal!

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet, and of course the higher the better. Apartments are from the second floor u...

Just stayed overnight at the Royal Albert again after many visits over the years. As an apartment hotel it doesn't have all the usual hotel facilities such as a gym, pool or business centre, but the large apartment style rooms with kitchen, laundry & lounge more than compensate. A great restaurant on the ground level provides room service & the central location means that restaurant & fast food is only steps away. This heritage building is very 'old world' with high ceilings & traditional fittings - so don't expect contemporary hotel style. Staff are attentive & helpful and the on site car park is a bonus.

Room Tip: 8 floors and the hotel is on a busy city corner, however I have never been disturbed by street noise...
