We stayed at the Clarion on the first part of our trip to Australia. The motel is very conveniently located in the city.
It is located right across from the train station which was perfect for us, because we rode the train from the airport and again to the Gold Coast. We were able to roll our luggage right across the street. The trains and buses will take you anywhere you need to go, easy to figure out, no need for a car.
Our room was a queen room on the corner. We had a view down the street and into the square.
The room was smaller than a normal motel room, but was fine for two adults.
They had a well-stocked mini-bar. We did not use the restaurant or any of their services, but everyone was nice and courteous.

I f you are staying in Brisbane, that's the place to choose, location is excellent, hotel staff is excellent. As part of our winter break, Australia and New Zealand this year, Brisbane was first on the agenda. After travelling from Russia, via Hong Kong, we arrived early morning, and no problem with a check in at 1030am. The room was self contained, and very spacious, enough room for 2 adults and one 4 y.o. Needed to book a car, not only did they do that but also arranged to have it at the front door when we wanted it. As we were so please we re-booked with them a couple of nights before departing Australia, no problem there, and they looked after the car's drop off.
A food court in the basement, train station cross the road, of course it is better and not as noisy if you have view on Anzac square.
Just two negative points : the washdrier didn't work and nobody knew how, when asked but we managed ; if you have a special package, allow yourself at least an hour for breakfast. There are not that many table, but the staff is basically inexperienced and brings down the good work the front desk has done for your stay to be plaisant. Bare in mind they'll charge for cereals for a child, and 200ml of milk will cost you AU$5.00.
But as I said, you can just walk down to Queen's street, not even 5 minutes and have it all ! Good photos on the web, it does look like it !

We stayed at the Rendezvous Hotel Brisbane in 2002 and will stay there again this year. The apartments were spacious and nicely appointed. Everything was clean and very comfortable. I'd say well above average. We have found it very affortable as the hotel offers specials through their own website. The location was excellent, very close to the CBD and a train station. Even with it's central location the rooms were very quiet (my husband is very sensitive to noise). The one bedroom apartment came with a kitchen, and a washer/dryer (new). We had a wonderful stay and as I said will stay there again.
