“Terrific location”
Reviewed June 24, 2009

My girlfriend and I stayed here our last night in Australia. We had a VAustralia out of Brisbane, so we took the chance to see the city a bit. We flew in from Cairns, took the train into the city, and walked to the hotel (~10 minutes from the main train station). Brisbane seems to have more of a nightlife than Adelaide, which was helpful since we didn't get in until about 8 PM. We were a quick cab ride from a very nice, young, bustling area with lots of restaurants and clubs. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel is overall well located, right in the heart of downtown. The staff was very friendly: after leaving for the airport, we realized we left completed postcards in the room. We called the hotel to ask them to mail them, which they happily did for us.

Dear arm90405,

Thank you for your feedback after your travels last year and your stay here at Novotel Brisbane.

I hope that the postcards we mailed on your behalf reached their destinations and that you had a safe journey home.

Next time you are here in Brisbane (if you decide to return on more travels that is), be sure to come and see the refurbishments we have had!

Thank you once again and warmest regards from Brisbane!

Barely stayed inside the hotel.I was in Brisbane only for a day. the hotel is impressive .the Brisbane Central Business District is quite close and some must see attractions like the Shrine of Remembrance are quite walkable from the hotel.EVen the Railway station is close by.
Our room was nice and comfortable and spacious. However, views were styandard. All we could see were high rise buildings across the street.
Staff was friendly and informed.

Stayed at the Novotel Brisbane for 3 days on business in Nov 2007. Room was a great size and, recently refurbished. Bathroom was also spacious but very standard white & Grey. The Work Desk was kinda funky and, had a swivel bit the could swing out so it turned into a side table, creative but not sure if its necessary. The Room Service menu was pretty good too, the freshness & Quality surprising but I still don't know what a 'Bourgal Melange' is.... Especially in a hotel in Brisbane?
Views are pretty standard city view but the hotel is a short walk to the centre of town and Central Station so good for transport especially to the airport. Breakfast Buffet has some good choice & is regularly refreshed, the Coffee could be better though. There is a major supermarket on the next block with chemist etc so it super conventinent.
Great for a stay in Brissie.

We booked the Novotel on a Wotif. Com Wot Hotel, where they don't identify the hotel until after booking. In our case, it turned out to be the Novotel, at $99 per night.

A very good hotel located near to Brisbane's Central railway station, BUT, accessed up a steepish hill. Guests arriving by motor vehicle would have no problems here.

Good quality rooms, comfortable bed, friendly efficient staff and close to the CBD.

We certainly would stay there again.

Spent a day at the Novotel on my way to Sydney. Had booked a standard room but since i was on my honeymoon they were nice enough to give me a free upgrade. The hotel is right in the centre of the Brisbane CBD so if you are looking for good views when you look out of the window then this is not the hotel for u. I was fairly happy with the room. Woudnt mind staying once again.

Mainly a leisure trip booked via the internet for four nights and I think it cost about $99AUS per night. Our room was good, the beds were comfortable, and we had a nice view overlooking the square. Staff were efficient and helpful. A male staff member even provided the use of a computer attached to a printer to facilitate "check in" for our departure flight-thank you! Being close to Central Railway Station was convenient. Offsetting the positives were soiled bed runners and cushion covers. The hotel is also a reasonable 'up hill' walk from the city so may not be suitable for the elderly however, taxis were available. In conjunction to a room internet connection, internet access was provided in the lobby but the major problems we encountered were children/parents playing games on the internet while adults waited to gain access for business or planning purposes (me and two others). This was definitely my greatest frustration-particularly due to time constraints on the morning of our departure. Unfortunately, I deliberately travelled without a laptop due to it being cumbersome. Based on price and service I would recommend this hotel.

We live in Brisbane but decided to book one night at the Novotel in the city just for something different. Accor had a great special for $79 per room per night - amazing price for this level of hotel.
As mentioned by other reviewers the hotel is right at the top end of the city so is a bit of a walk down into the city central. This isn't really a problem because it's only three or four blocks. The coming back up takes a little more effort.
The hotel is a solid - three to four star. A simple but nice modern lobby area. The bar area is the lobby looked like a nice place to relax.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and a highlight of the hotel.
One even offered to find a bandaid for my son when he overheard him complaining about a blister in the lift.
The rooms are not large but quite sufficient for an overnight.
The room we had - had two double beds - children are free of charge when sharing with adults in existing bedding.
The buffet breakfast was $20 for continential and $28 for the works. Children eat free.
There is a supermarket and bakery only a short walk from the hotel, just past Cathedral Square.
The hotel pool is a large rectangle and has a well equipped gym adjoining the pool area.
Overall, the hotel would be good for the business traveller or for families passing through for a few nights.
The only thing we didn't like was the charge of $20 to use the hotel car park. Maybe we've just got lucky in recent years, but this was the first hotel we have stayed in for a long time that didn't include parking with the room.
Otherwise, all good.
Caroline.
