“Nice view of Southbank..”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

Stayed at the Mercure which was within walking distance to Southbank for a conference. The hotel had just been renovated, you could still smell the paint. We arrived a little early (about 12:15) and when we went to ask where we could park the car until we checked in we were advised the room was ready and we could check in straight away. The car parking area entry is right at the end of the hotel driveway....we unloaded our bags then parked the car. Queen Street Mall is within 2 blocks, an easy walk. We enjoyed the "green cabs" (bikes that have a bench seat at the back) a couple of times when walking over to Southbank ($10-$15) and used an ordinary cab one night after dinner ($13) but was a pleasant walk anyway. Staff were pleasant and we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: The view from the river view rooms is really nice.

The hotel was nicely located and it was the only positive aspect of it. The cleaning lady was looking though our things in the bathroom. The gym was dirty and the equipment was broken, towels were not fresh. In general the only positive aspect was the location of the place. The reception people were not very nice apart from one man. I wouldn't recommend the place, it's definitely too expensive for such a poor service. Oh, the rooms were comfortable and quite clean.

Great location..Hotel was being refurbished, however we were in an old room which was very outdated and in need of a makeover.Would have been nice to have been in one of the new rooms or been given an upgrade since we are advantage plus members.Breakfast was good.We were told we had a city view room it was actually a view of the roof and a couple of buildings.

Brilliant location close to all the main shops, stations and opposite the river and South Bank Parklands. Ask for a room with river views. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Rooms were a bit dark - need better lighting and a mirror. We stayed there twice in March and April and both rooms were good. We were not bothered by any noise from the refurbishment. Beds were very comfortable and clean. Small rooftop pool was nice to cool down in after a long day out. Would stay there again if in Brisbane

We stayed here with our 5 year old for 1 night. Had double and single bed for $148. Refurbished room was lovely and modern. Warm feeling with nice paint, carpet, trimmings etc. beds and pillows were comfortable. Enough room in room considering we had 2 beds. Check in was smooth and extra requests such as towels to room were responded to promptly. Very happy with quality of stay, would highly recommend. Pity there is no gym, outside pool was nice and clean.

The Mercure Brisbane is in an excellent location, close to the River, convenient for Cental & Roma stations and within easy walking of an excellent range of restaraunts. The service was up to Mercure's strong standard and the room (we got an upgrade) was spacious and well maintained. An excellent location for a Brisbane visit.

I stayed there for a few days of holidays in March. My stay was pleasant enought but I did not appreciate the service provided by the older concierge; he was not forthcoming with information and one evening he took the lift with me and blowed a large bubble out of his gum. I would not think bubble gum is allowed while in contact with guests?? All other staffs members were nice and hotel has a good location.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am glad to hear that overall you had a pleasant. I do however wish to sincerely apologize for the behavior of one of our staff. This is absolutely not to the hotels standard and I appreciate this being brought to our attention. I hope that you may give us a chance in the future to redeem ourselves next time you return to Brisbane.
