Central Hillcrest Apartments
Ranked #103 of 168 Hotels in Brisbane

I arrived after reception had closed but they have a system in place to collect keys out of hours. Didn't like the first apartment so the very helpful girl on reception changed it for a much better location and perfect vantage point to watch the activity on the river.
We spent some evenings watching the amazing free firework display and had the best view in the city!
5 minutes walk to Southbank Parklands with a host of cafes and restaurants plus the man made beach. We had a car but left it parked in the secure underground car park for several days and just walked across the Goodwill Bridge into Brisbane itself.
The apartment (610) had a fully equiped kitchen, separate bedroom, air con that actually worked and windows that you could open!
Good choice of TV channels and an excellent living area with full patio doors that opened out on to the balcony. Perfect place for breakfast or afternoon tea while watching the boats on the river! There is a Coles supermarket about 5 mins drive away and plenty of restaurants near the Gabba plus a cinema just a few minutes walk away at Southbank.
For those looking to travel to the Gold Coast, the motorway is less than a minute from the apartments and we could get to Surfers in around 45 minutes.
Be careful when you are looking for the building as Vulture Street is one way and I almost drove past the first time. Look for signs for the hospital and you'll be fine!
We stayed here for 10 nights and would certainly stay here again given the chance!

Good friendly staff in a easy to get to location. Not the centre of the city which made it easy to find on the map and easy to drive in and out of. Restaurant served good simple meals and nice wine. The pool was a bit cold for a dip but in summer would be most welcome. Secure of street parking and good secure entrance via all areas.

I stayed here one night and selected the hotel based on the reasonable price and great location - good proximity to Southbank and fairly close to the city. I think I was given one of the smaller rooms compared to other reviews I've read here.

The room was tired and had not been cleaned properly, I felt like I was in a university dorm. The bathroom was dark even with lights on. The TV was small and the remote control did not work, which made it difficult to operate the TV at all.

Reception staff were very friendly and tried their best to fix the remote but to no avail. The clock radio by the bed kept flashing and although I reset it twice after a while it went back to it's original state. Lamps flickered on and off and I had to move the bed to find that the the power plugs were hanging out of the socket. Based on the amount of time staff had spent on the remote control repairs I did not have the time or energy to pursue any of the other issues I had with the room.

Based on my experience, I'm not keen to stay there again, but this could have been a once-off. For those wanting a cheap room in a great location this would be okay, just ask questions about the room sizes and facilities before you book.

We spent two night.s in these apartments, we had a studio in the 8th floor with great views of downtown Brisbane. The studio was basic, clean and spacious, overall it was above our expectations for the price we paid for. The service was excellent, front desk and room service all together. What I liked is the security features of these apts, the parking, the elevator and the front door after working hours are all code accessible, which made us feel very safe. From the hotel you can easily walk to parklands and downtown, you can also take the water taxi cross the street to go different parts of the city even to Koala lone Pine Park which what we did, it was quite fun experience.

I stayed at this place for a couple of nights for a business trip to Brisbane. I had a hotel room which was fairly spacious, clean and had all the standard facilities you would expect plus I had a small balcony. Rooms were nice and clean and there was plenty of wardrobe space - the shower was a good size too. The hotel itself had a small outdoor pool and spa but it was too cold for me to use these. The location was great and right next to Southbank. Staff were friendly - the reception closes at 11pm so if you go out late you have to take the code with you to get in after 11pm. There was also a small restaurant and bar in the hotel.
I would happily stay here again - good location and a good standard of hotel.

I booked this hotel on the web because it is close to the convention centre at a reasonable price. My room was on the top floor with spectacular views. Friendly and helpful staff. There is a coffee shop
on the ground level with good food. A very pleasant place to stay.

Three of us booked an apartment at Hillcrest as it appeared on the map to be handy for the Gabba. We arrived jet lagged from UK at 8am and they looked after our bags till check in time at 1pm. The apartment was extremely spacious, the main lounge/kitchen being roughly 9m by 5m, with a balcony running the entire length. One of us slept on a bed in the main room, the other two in a twin bedded room. There was a spacious bathroom with washing machine etc. The decor was a bit tired but otherwise it was clean and well equipped. Servicing was done daily by pleasant maids. The main scoring point was the closeness of the Gabba (15 minutes walk down Vulture Street) and the South Bank with its gardens and restaurants (5-10 minutes walk in the other direction). The Hillcrest restaurant was gloomy and uninspired. The nearest convenience store was 10 minutes away and a long hike uphill with heavy shopping. But overall we found it a really convenient choice for the Gabba. We met an Aussie who told us he'd been using Hillcrest for this purpose for 20 years.
