“South Bank, Brisbane”

A lovely cosmopolitan place full of restaurants, great food, Saturday Markets. A sandy beach and pools for the kids (and 'big kids') with a relaxing atmosphere. Beautifully manicured grounds along the Brisbane river, pleasant for walking along and bike riding. Close to the superb Qld Performing Arts Centre, fab hands-on Science Centre & Museum, Qld Art Gallery and GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art) which has amazing exhibitions and great activities for children.

I live in Brisbane and this area is one that the grandchildren choose to visit often.

“Worth a Look”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

South bank is probably a good place to go if you haven't been to Brisbane before. The parklands itself with its lagoon etc will probably appeal to overseas visitors as it a beach within the city. But a lot of the restaurants are over priced and if you have a family, I suggest taking a picnic as it will save you a fortune! The big wheel there is no London Eye and again a bit pricey if you have a family! Worth a look up if you're a couple. An expensive place for families but you can have a really good day (as long as its sunny) doing the free things and just enjoying the place!

“Brisbane "Must Do"”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

There is something for everyone here. Families can swim in the pool, sun bake on the beach, dine in the restaurants, cook on a BBQ - all with a view of the city. Ask a Brisbane Greeter to show you the remnants of Expo 88; explore the Maritime Museum; check out the Nepalese temple, the rainforest, the big wheel.

Can also be explored by bicycle or roller blades. Serviced by the City Cat transport or the free "City Hopper" Ferry. Adjacent to the theatres and museum and art gallery. Markets on the weekend.

Vibrant and plenty to do and see. There is a man made beach, ferris wheel and plenty of shops. The view of the city is beautiful.
