Owner description: THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN OF SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND'S HISTORIC HOMES... One of the most prominent homes in our history, the iconic landmark was built in 1846 and has been occupied by some of Brisbane's most influential colonial figures including Patrick Leslie, Captain John Clements Wickham and George Harris. Newstead House, Brisbane's oldest surviving residence is the jewel in the crown of South East Queensland's historic properties. Now operating as a living museum, the grand home is furnished to reflect the occupation of the Harris family, who were in residence between 1862 and 1890. We invite you to take in the magnificent views as you wander the generous verandas & explore the history of our grand home. Discover another world, located minutes from the CBD.

If you like to go back in time. this is the place to have a look. They would have to have been the wealthy people of Brisbane that owned this house. Some of my past history.

Loved going round this the oldest house in Brisbane. The house is furnished in an eclectic style of the times but gives an idea of life in a 'Queenslander'. The guides are informative and love talking about the hosue and its inhabitants. A must do is the Devonshire Tea - the scones are delicious.

A wonderful insight into life in the last century. The gardens are beautiful and you can have a picnic in the grounds - and a lovely walk along the river.

Really nice parkland surrounds it and you can walk all the way into Teneriffe from here if you want for breakfast somewhere nice.
