“Great building in a nice lively square.”
Reviewed December 15, 2013 via mobile

The Brisbane city hall is definitely one of the top attractions in Brisbane, located in the heart of the city halfway between the train station Roma Street and Central Station. The building itself is very huge and old fashion, it seems to have some historical dating than modern urban planning of the city. Unfortunately I ha not time to come in and take a peek but I know for a fact that inside there is a museum. The square below is really spacious, with lots of bars and cafes, and like every corner of Brisbane is full of people. Truly a beautiful piece of architecture. A must see.

“The Christmas Light Show”
Reviewed December 14, 2013

We were in Brisbane City last Friday Night and attended King George Square and the City Hall. The BCC have this year commissioned a laser light show that is project onto the façade of this classic piece of architecture. It was a very nice piece of work. It is repeated every 15 minutes or so, so the little ones won't have to wait too long. There is so much going on that I recommend that you watch it through once, use the 15 minute intermission to buy a gelato and then watch it through again to see what you missed the first time.

“Iconic Hall ”

Beautiful architecture and a must if your in the city. Exploring the hall takes approximately half an hour. Free entry. Occasionally exhibits are on display. Couple your visit with a tour of the Brisbane museum which is also free. Highly recommended.

“Very Grand City Hall”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

Visited here for the first time on a Weekday to see the museum feature of 88 Expo its was ok and informative with allot of Videos and props and memorabilia of the 88 Expo. The other Museum feature of the Brisbane River The big Projector Presentation Video of the Journey from the source of the Brisbane River all the way down to Moreton Bay was nicely presented and relax able. There is allot of information and some interactions with touch screens you will learn about the various crossings over the Brisbane river, I learnt that allot from this. I also did the clock tower tour which was a free 15 tour The views from the top were great and the staff were friendly and informative .

“A bit of a disappointment”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

The external view of this beautiful building was marred by a huge promotion for Pepsi (a great big marquee, cars and noise). I know they have to make money for attractions but this was only the start.
Our Brisbane based friends had booked us on to a tour and we turned up at our appointed time to be told the main hall itself was closed for a private event. Being as that is THE main attraction in this building and where all the money has been spent, we were obviously disappointed. Again, I recognise the commercial need for this but, none the less it was annoying for our friends and disappointing for us - if you've pre-booked, surely there should be some way to warn you?
We were escorted around the building by an absolutely charming and knowledgeable young lady but what did we see? First, the marble in the entrance hall - fair enough but then down to the basement to see the "concrete cancer" that had nearly destroyed the building; the new portable ovens and (really???) the graffiti on the walls of what had been the urinals.
Upstairs again we were shown an outside courtyard with a drain (!) and stones that had been rescued from the old stables. Then up another level to see a carpet and a piano - which one of the party played.
The best part was the museum and the clock tower - but they were separate from the tour anyway.
My advice - check in advance if you can get into the main hall. If you can't, leave this trip to another day because, from the photos one of the museum staff kindly showed us, this is really what you're there to see. The rest is just "padding".
