Was on a road trip and visited the botanic gardens. Even with a map, you may get lost as you start wandering off the paths.

Was there during Spring, in October and it can get hot at times

The weather was glorious and the gardens lovely. We spent around three hours strolling round different section and could easily have spent longer. There was still lots to see even through it was technically winter. We loved the ferns, the dry arid plants and those in those in the covered dome - many photos were taken. We also visited the memorial to the fallen - very peaceful and moving

The gardens are set up on a hill and contain a varied collection of sub tropical trees, flowers, cycads etc. The paths meander through the gardens and away up the hill. It is fascinating to see unusual plants in flower or seeding so abundantly as the climate is perfect for them. Be aware though, that some of the paths may seem a little steep to an elderly visitor at the end of the day. There is plenty of shade though and lots to see not too far from the main gate. The children's treasure hunt section is delightful and young children will enjoy it very much.
