What an unpleasant experience was Restautant Dell Ugo last night at Sothbank. My boyfriend and I wanted to have an early Valentine’s dinner which unfortunately turned into a disastrous evening. Not only the food was very average - leading towards bad, but the owner seemed only so interested in coming to the table every 5minutes to get us to order more food and drinks as the restaurant was clearly lacking customers. Looking at the beverage menu I noticed there were hardly any Italian wines in the list available by the glass which was a shame. We put our orders through of pear and walnut salad, risotto and crab lasagne. The risotto was tasty; the salad was very average but my lasagne was definitely not one to remember except for maybe the piece of gnocchi I found in it! Could not taste any crab meat at all and on the whole tasted no different to any lasagne you can get from any supermarket. When the waiter came to clear our plates, she asked if there was something wrong with mine as I left most of it, I showed her the gnocchi I found and said I was very disappointed there was not much crab meat or if it was it was very minced. The owner quickly came to our table and told us in such rude attitude that we had no taste and his lasagne was the best selling dish of the restaurant for the last 9 years! And had sold over 600 or something of those in that time! He then went to get the dish back from the kitchen and told us the “apparent gnocchi” was a lump of crab meat!! and went on explaining how they go about making this lasagne…. to our amusement he said that piece was gone from the plate and there was nothing there!!! So to any customers out there, don’t waste your time with Restautant Dell Ugo and his arrogant owner, is definitively not worth it!
