“Great food, great atmosphere, great value”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

Not usually a fan of tapas restaurants as you usually get very little for a lot of money, but im very glad to report his place is not one of those! Been here twice now, both times we had a mix of tapas and mains - both are of god size, they taste great (and a little different to your usual fare). Im definately returning!

“Always good!”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

We came to this restaurant on the night of River Fire, so the whole of South Bank was PACKED, including Ole. Despite this we still got fast service, great food and the best Sangria!!! Love it here, always good :)

“Best of many in Southbank, Brisbane.”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

A wonderfully authentic Spanish restaurant conveniently situated in the heart of Southbank's entertainment precinct. We had the Sunset Special (Sundays thru Thursdays) of 2 tapas + 2 Raciones + 1 big jug of Sangria for $55 all up, which was excellent quality, ample for the two of us and really good value. Very popular and deservedly so. Highly recommended.

“Very disappointing - bland, tasteless food”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

Having had fantastic tapas in Barcelona, we were keen to find a tapas bar in the Brisbane area to replicate the experience. Although Ole is well-located for pre-theatre drinks and snacks and has a great vibe, we were very disappointed with the food. I had the empanada(s) and the chickpea balls with chilli sauce and my husband had the calamari and whitebait with aoli and the pork belly with black pudding. The menu description of the empanadas was 3 small pieces of varying flavours - the waitress advised that it had been changed from 3 small pieces to one large one - however what arrived was one small one with a vaguely seafood filling - not good value for $9! The chickpea balls although a decent sized serving were dry and tasteless and the chilli sauce lacked bite. The calamari and whitebait was nice but the serve of aoli was not exactly generous. The pork belly and black pudding were disappointing, however the accompanying chickpeas/white beans were tasty. Spanish food is meant to be earthy and flavoursome - not much in evidence at this place.

“Overated”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

We tried to book a table for 8 but were told they only took bookings of 10 or more. We went early and asked for a table for 8 and the waitress asked the woman in charge to add a table but was told to add 2 chairs to a small table for six - very cramped considering it involves plates of tapas. No-one at the table was impressed with the food and we won't be returning.
