“Great Japanese at central CBD location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2014

Great Japanese food at the restaurant located in centre of CBD. Choice of Western style tables or tatami tables plus two small private dining rooms. Food and service very good.

Came here with my brother and had a medley of starters all delicious. It had a quirky feel to it. Polite servers. And price was ok $$. Would come again but only after exploring other outlets

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

Lovely atmosphere but service is hard to get and we often sat for long periods of time waiting for a drink or a waiter. The food is lovely and fresh but I think it is over priced when compared with places like Sake in the city. Worth a try for lunch

“Great in every respect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2014 via mobile

I love Japanese food, and I have spent a fair bit of time in Japan. This restaurant is as good as any I've seen in Kyoto or elsewhere in Japan. I've eaten here dozens of times; every time without exception both the food and the service were great. For the food, try the soft-shell crab, salmon sashimi or sushi or the unaju - always superb, just as the rest of their dishes. The sake list is outstanding. Spend more than the minimum price on sake, but you don't have to spend a fortune. Best of all, the staff are always friendly, welcoming and attentive. It's hard to recommend this place highly enough.

Oh, and try to get into the original City outlet. The new Portside restaurant is great but doesn't quite have the kind of personal service you'll find at the CBD location. Go to the Sono at Edward and Queen, and you won't be disappointed.
