“One of the best experiences in Brisbane”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

I know that other ppl complained about the price, but we tried the signature dish menu and was very impressed. The most notable dishes were the pork katsu, the salmon (ora king) and the chocolate garden (which would satisfy any chocolate lover)

“Elegant Japanese Food in Brisbane”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

If you want fine modern Japanese food in Brisbane, you can't go past Sake. We've been there the last three times we visited Brisbane and every time has been great. From the sashimi and sushi to the elegant main courses, we love the food.

And then there's the sake - such an interesting selection with really helpful descriptions and advice from the the wait staff.

“Service spoils the night”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2013

Had diner last night with colleague and partner. No booking was made, we were given the option to wait or have diner outside.
We chose to have diner outside.
The restaurant is on the first floor, on the street side of the complex. So you do not get a view of the waterfront side which is too bad.
But we sat outside, well enough, it was not too cold.
There are private rooms which need to be booked in advance from 6-20+.
Inside there is a nice buzzing atmosphere, outside (a sort of balcony area) is more like a bar side and waiting area. We had a high table, we had to grab 2 high stools ourselves but Ok, no worries.
We had a waitress, who seemed very helpful at first but (although she said she was having a great night) was obviously not... We got the menus, and we got explained in about 0.4 seconds how 'it works' in Saké. The food was good, value for money (if you go for quality, not quantity).
However, service with a smile is priceless (and not available at Saké last night).
Without asking, pouring 3 bottles of sparkling water is not acceptable.
Wine (Barossa Shiraz from $55) was good.
Beer (Asahai) $11 for a bottle...
In my opinion, when a restaurant is good -or even reasonable- with excellent service, I will always go back to have a great night. And recommend it to anybody.
If the food is good but service is arrogant, below average and certainly not friendly, I won't go back and I even take the effort to write a review like this.
What a missed opportunity...

“Beautiful Restaurant & Food. Spotty Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

Sake may well be an offshoot of the charming Sake Restaurant in the Rocks in Sydney. It is well fitted out, but without the funkyness of its Sydney equivalent. The food was excellent. The service was a bit approximate - not Japanese at all and the Head Waitress coldly officious. The wine list is extensive, but finding a reasonably priced wine was a bit difficult.

“Smashing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013 via mobile

Very pleased to have found Sake. A Wednesday lunch was a lovely way to finish a short stay in Brisbane. Our waiter was the very definition of professional; knowledgeable, helpful, at hand when needed and elsewhere when not.
It was tough ordering a sensible amount if food as there was so much temptation! Tuna tasting plate and pork belly with slow cooked egg were stunners. Actually it was all great. We will revisit... so many things we didn't eat, so much sake we didn't drink (driving, you know how it is).
