“Absolutely delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

Arriving starving after no breakfast, my sister and I took way too many plates of the yum cha trolleys! It was just as yum cha should be - fast service, great variety and really tasty.

A bit disappointing to read that they serve shark fin soup, but we had yum cha and I hadn't read the full menu until now.

“Good Chinese Food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

Ate here in August 2012. Prime location and very extensive menu. Their Duck dishes are expensive and the duck that was served was slightly over cooked, but still tasty. Other dishes included a chicken curry and a steak dish. In all slightly above average. It's not the best Chinese (the Focus Restaurant in Surfers Paradise is better) but is certainly not the worst. Worth a try.

“Boycott this restaurant; it serves shark fin soup!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2012

This restaurant is absolutely awful. They’re inhumane and barbaric. Why? They have shark fin soup on their menu. Well, how do they get the shark fin to put in the shark fin soup? Here’s how:

Workers haul a shark aboard, slice off its fins, and throw the shark back into the ocean, still alive. It then either drowns, gets eaten alive, or bleeds to death.

This is called shark finning, and it happens twice every second! If we don’t stop eating our shark fin soups now, sharks will be gone from the oceans forever. We must boycott this restaurant until it REMOVES shark fin soup from its menu.

Thank you for caring for the sharks and not eating at this restaurant.

“Spoilt for choice!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2012

The menu at Beijing House is very extensive and you really are spoilt for choice. You would be very hard pushed to fancy a chinese dish that you couldnt find on the menu!

We ordered a few dishes to share, including entree's and mains and everything was absolute perfection.

Prices are very reasonable and service is both friendly and quick.

It is a good place to end up for a meal after a day shopping in the mall or to take friends for a celebratory dinner - Highly recommended!

“Shark Fin Soup - pushing sharks to extinction”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2011

Beijing House Chinese Restaurant supports an industry that butchers 200,000 sharks alive every single day so it can serve shark fin soup. This cruel, babaric & unsustainable practise is responsible for global shark populations plummeting by 90% in the last 30 years. Silvertip Whalers & Scalloped Hammerhead sharks have been virtually eliminated through shark finning from Australia's northern reefs. As an aside shark flesh is known to have dangerous levels of the toxic metal mercury, a 2008 Hong Kong study found 80% of restaurants that served shark fin their had levels of mercury that exceeed the legal limit. Even if you don't agree with the environmental impacts, avoid this restaurant for your health's sake.
