Firstly, ignore upstairs and go straight downstairs to the restaurant. Upstairs could be good but on the 2 occasions we visited we experienced unattentive pretentious service and practically no one else around for what seems like obvious reasons. Also the sangria is overly sweet and not great. Forget it and head down. The food was amazing!! Downstairs is a much warmer environment with competent, attentive and freindly staff. Great wine list and recommendations. Food-wise the fish, pimientos, rabbit, croquettes, lamb and desert were all fantastic and very filling. Overall, great night.

Celebrated an engagement at this restaurant, waiter was very knowledge on his food - blood sausage and croquettes are die for. Drink service was splendid. All in all thoroughly enjoyable night and I will definitely return.

We went there on the recommendation of friends; the reputation is well deserved. Guided by clear and non-pretentious advice from the waitress, we (four people) choose to share five small dishes. They were all superb - a perfect balance of flavours and textures: the croquettes were yummy - crusty and creamy; the hams bursting with subtly different flavours; the fried vegetables delicate, in a diverse selection; the pork mouth-watering; we voted our favourite the rabbit with mushrooms - we scraped every bit of sauce out of the dish. Then followed the larger dish of slow-cooked lamb shoulder falling off the bone, with lamb jus and a punchy lemon purée. Good advice on the wine, professional service throughout and attention to detail: the wine waiter changed part-way through the evening and the second person had been told which two people were driving and had already indicated that they didn't want more than the first glass. Plus continual refills of cold water. Very highly recommended all round.

I don't often write a bad review...but had to on this occasion. I have eaten in some fairly amazing restaurants in my time so I wanted to treat my husband and another couple to something special which is why I picked Ortiga. The positives were the physical restaurant itself..very sleek and great lighting. Service was quite good as well. The utmost negative was the lack of taste to the food. Beautifully presented but zero taste. Bland. No bite at all. Incredibly disappointing...even the dessert and coffee. Absolutely would not recommend this restaurant at all...unless you were simply hiring out the venue, using their staff but bringing in your own food

Second visit to Ortiga - loved it the first time but hadn't been back to Brisbane in a while. We had a party of 10. I had many email exchanges with the manager - who very patiently honed the set menu to suit our group of pescatarians/vegetarians/carnivores. Once again we loved the buzzy downstairs space. The manager and waitstaff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The food? Exciting and perfectly executed ... the lamb was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Remains No.1 on our Brisbane Hit List!
