“What a gem”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

Loved my one night there and felt like a queen. Upgraded to a corner terrace suite. Warm and personalised service. A room perfectly outfitted with quality furnishings and unparalleled attention to detail (even the hair dryer is professional standard Vidal Sassoon!), a personal handwritten welcome card, free top-ups of milk for your Nespresso coffee and T2 tea, Italian bath amenities, delicious canapes and breakfast which I chose to have my breakfast on the terrace. What a wonderful experience. I have always said whether something is expensive depends not on price but on value. So yes, Spicers is abit pricey, but if it is within your budget, the experience is worth it. Only thing to bear in mind is that for its spa like retreat in the city, it is away from the hustle and bustle, so be prepared for taxi travels.

Thought the hotel was pretty and very nicely decorated, the service was somehow a let down on the second day.
Breakfast was stunning, tho you would expect this at that price. Simple yet tasty, nicely presented, well prepared. Excellent ingredients.
Personnally, would not go back there it was a little disappointing.

Once again we had an excellent stay This was just one night but we were treated as though we were there for longer, not like some hotels that give you the worst room all the rooms here are good. The hotel staff are always friendly it is like coming home. The breakfast is superior as is the whole experience. The parking is a bonus. We will be back.

Amazing. Great service, fantastic rooms and great breakfast. Beautiful bar looking over looking the city.
Short walk to beautiful cages, pubs and other restaurants. So close to the CBD you wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.

Stayed two nights at this gorgeous hotel and was totally ruined - I won't be able to stay anywhere else in Brisbane from now on. Spicers is "it" now. Nice, quiet location but only a short taxi ride to the CBD. Gorgeous super quiet rooms, professional yet friendly staff, fantastic food, every comfort you could think of. Best breakfast in living memory eaten on that lovely sunny verandah - doesn't get any better than that! I would highly recommend this hotel. Loved every minute of my stay.

Great small hotel with personal, friendly, service. Great rooftop cocktail bar overlooking the CBD for pre-dinner drinks and a sunny veranda - perfect for beutifull breakfasts in the morning. All within a few minutes' walking distance of New Farm's excellent eating establishments, and the CBD is only 20 mins walk away. Easy access to great runs along the Brisbane river too.

Stayed at Spicers Balfour in Newfarm on Friday night and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the establishment. Very warm welcome and the rooms are beautiful. Lovely little touches like heated towel rails, bathrobes, and nesspresso coffee machine. The room was really quiet. Excellent breakfast. Great views from the rooftop bar of the Story Bridge. Walked to Newfarm Farmers Market on Saturday morning and was able to have a lovely dinner at Hotel Bravo on Friday night all within walking distance.

Room Tip: Only a boutique hotel but Room 2 was great
