I had the pleasure to stay at The Colmsie Hotel for a week whilst on a training course. It is deffiantly a five star hotel. The staff were excellent, could not do enough for you. The rooms were terrific and spotless, well set out with a lovely king size bed. The breakfast was great, with a wonderfully variety of foods. Dinner menu had such a great variety, and the staff were an absolute pleasure. Highly recommended!!!!!

Stayed here after my sister's wedding reception was held in the function room on the hotel and it was great!

The people at reception were very helpful - even after hours when we lost our hotel key (card)!

The rooms are roomy, comfortable and clean. I looooved the showers - plenty of hot water and pressure.

The hotel is opposite Coles and Woolies and just off the Wynnum Rd so you are close to transport, main roads and shops.

I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.

If you want a quality hotel between the airport & the city, you cant go past the Colmslie.
its a bit expensive for what you get , from $165 for 2 people, but its very nice, quality fittings, fresh interior & comfortable king size bed , makes for a satifying experience. The staff were excellent & helpful, i have no complaints. The weekday beakfast is $24 each & not so good & they finish at 9am , but if you have breakfast on a sunday their buffet is only $18 & has much more variety. I dont know why they dont do that all week. Theres a Coles supermarket next door with supporting shops . Good free undercover parking available on site. Im not sure whether its 4'5 stars but im happy to stay there again as i have family living close by.

My family stayed at the Colmslie for three nights over Christmas while celebrating with family who live in Morningside. The rooms were lovely. Clean, good sized, very comfortable and had great black out curtains which is a must for those of us who are used to summers with daylight savings!

The only negative thing that I experienced was that we went downstairs on Boxing Day for breakfast as the hotel has a sign out the front saying, "Join us for breakfast Sunday. Buffet, all you can eat $__" We were met with an empty dining room and no staff about. When we finally found a person we were told there was no food service until noon and if we wanted breakfast then we should have ordered room service the night before. It wasn't a very nice attitude for a family with two small kids in tow. I would have understood if the person had apologised for the mix-up but no such approach was taken by the lone staffer in the dining room.

On a positive note. We did have great help from the front desk staff when we had to return after checking out as my youngest son had left a toy under the pillow of his bed. When I walked back in to explain the situation the man on the front desk did not even hesitate he simply said, "Let's go!" He took me up to the room and was super friendly.

The prices were very good for the standard of the room. I think if they can manage the dining room a with a bit more understanding to patrons they'll get it right!

Firstly, I have to say that all the niceties of this hotel has been nullifiied by the placid service of the front desk staff. Not once were we greeted with a good morning, hi, or even a smile! And if you know Australia, this is really really rare. We booked through travelgate.com and read that they had free internet (one of the main reasons why we chose this place). But when we asked about it, a grumpy looking lady said, "I don't know where you read that from, it is not on our website and you will have to pay for it if you wanna use it". That just leaves a bad taste in the customer's mouth.
When we checked in, we were late as we got lost on the way there from the airport. we apologised and there was no response and no empathy.

The room was big and tastefully done. The bathroom was very new, clean and nice.
But guess what, I will not be going there again. Nothing is worth the bad service.

If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the morningside area of Brisbane this is a great hotel. It was renovated and only re-opened 2 months ago (July 2010) so the rooms are really good. Nice bed, HD tv on the wall with movies, a good size bathroom and a nice quiet environment. Not a huge room, but roomy compared to most hotels. The room i stayed in was only suitable for up to 2 people but they may have bigger rooms if you have kids. They also have a restaraunt that is very reasonably priced and a pub attached to the hotel as well, even the pub is way above average and I was happy to sit in the pub and chill out after a day of work. Coles is right next door too, so if you need anything it is easy to get. I would recommend this hotel.
