I probably wouldn't have booked this motel, from outside it didn't seem to offer much, an older style motel. But my husband booked us in for one night before leaving on a cruise as it's just across from the cruise-ship wharf. What a pleasant surprise! We stayed in a family room all together. The facility is very dated but spotless, with good beds, nice bedding and pillows. The decor was kitsch and fun. Communication was clear and precise, and arrangements for late check-in easy and stress free. We were completely blown away when the manager offered to run us down to the wharf with our luggage the next morning at no extra cost - there were a lot of road works and construction going on so, although only a short distance, it would have been a difficult walk with the luggage. Such a lovely surprise. As I said, ours was a "Jungle" themed room complete with tiger and elephant and a leopard print shower curtain. Not sure if all rooms match or are themed differently. Opposite the pub, and around the corner from some great cafes, so we didn't eat in, but the motel's dine in menu looked great.
Would definitely stay here again, cheap and very cheerful, plus a lovely welcoming manager, thanks Saskia.More
