Having not ever used this means of transportation around the city, I was delighted with the ease of use. On one occasion, we boarded the wrong boat going the opposite direction that we wanted to go. The ticket taker on board realized this and stopped the boat from departing until we were safely off-board and on the side of the dock that we needed to be. It was a mistake on our part and the help saved us a significant amount of time. The boat was clean and very spacious.

Took the ferry on New Years day for a bit of an adventure, and was not disappointed. It was great way to take in the sights of Brisbane and the crew on board were very friendly and helpful. Mind it was a very quiet day with very few passengers. I am sure in the hectic rush hour periods it would not be nearly so relaxed, but then it is a very convenient form of public transport. So if you have a couple of hours to spend there are a lot worse things you could do with your time. Also the City Hopper ferries are another convenient option if you have time constraints.
