We would heartily agree with the positive reviews about Fern Cottage...we spent 4 nights here in November 2011.. lovely hosts, lovely neighbourhood .. especially enjoyed having breakfast out on the balcony off the room.

I found this B&B because it was mentioned in the Lonely Planet Australia guide and I generally find these recommendations to be quite helpful. I was not disappointed. We spent 3 days in Brisbane during December 2011 and we were quite happy with this B&B. The hosts, Geoff and Mary, are lovely. The location is nice - lots of little shops and very good restaurants within walking distance.Transit to the city is quick and easy. Breakfasts were healthy and delicious. Our room was very clean and had plenty of space, including a spacious balcony overlooking the neighbourhood where we usually ate breakfast. I would stay here again without any hesitation.

We were lucky enough to get an overnight room here on our way to a wedding in Mount Tamborine. We had a night and a day to explore the restaurants, cafes and shops of historic Paddington. Thanks Mary and Geoff and the million dollar dog.

We really enjoyed our stay here, clean & comfortable rooms with some nice little touches like fluffy bath robes in the wardrobe, a good selection of books particularly useful for finding out more about the area & what to do. A lovely healthy breakfast choice which we could eat on our own little patio outside the room by the garden. Very close to buses to the city, an excellent array of restaurants a couple of minutes walk away (the Lebanese one was really fantastic). Mary & Geoff are such lovely helpful hosts, having travelled widely themselves they understand how all the little things make such a difference, such as travel advice around the city, the use of corporate GoCards making travel on public transport super easy, & lifts to train & bus stations. Would really recommend this B&B to fellow travellers
Thanks, Nicola, Matt & Winona

This was a lovely place to stay while in Brisbane. Mary and Geoff are outstanding hosts, quick to offer tourist suggestions, rides to to the train, and fun conversation during the day. Our rooms were quite comfortable, with two separate sleeping areas within one ensuite (the "orange room"). The garden behind the house is a relaxing place to take your breakfast or morning tea. Rosalie, the nearby village, has several (at least 20) different restaurants, so there are plenty of dining options just a short walk (less than 5 minutes) away. Rosalie is also on a bus line and is about 15 minutes from the CBD.

We stayed at Fern cottage shortly before the floods. Everything was beyond our expectations.

Mary and Geoff are so nice and went out of there way to help us with tips about attractions and getting around, even drove us to the ferry and train stations in the mornings.

The rooms are quite spacious and well equipped, breakfast is a treat...

We stayed at the Burgundy room, which had it's own terrace. The room is facing the street and traffic starts very early in the morning, 5 am or thereabouts, so if you are a light sleeper you might want to stay at the rooms downtairs.

It is very unfortunate that the house was flooded so I don't know how bad the damage was but if you are going to Brisbane and when they are reopened, we would definately recommend you stay there!
