“Fabulous location... just bring your own toilet paper”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

Fab location and staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. Our main criticism is that you need to supply your own toilet paper, garbage bags, dishwashing detergent, bath soap etc. We were given enough for 2 days... but after that needed to supply our own. We've stayed at loads of these types of apartments and have always had enough supplied for the duration of our stay. They're not items we would expect to have to bring along . Would we stay again ?? Absolutely :-)

Thank you for your feedback.

Here at The Miro we value the feedback provided to us by our guests.

Offering 'self-contained' apartments for over night or short term stays The Miro is a great alternative to staying at your normal hotel where you only have a basic room with the basic essentials.

Our apartments provide you with modern appliances - including a front loader washer/dryer, Bosch microwave oven, flat screen TV etc. We also provide you with a Welcome Pack which includes everything you need for the first couple of days stay, so all you need to do in the first couple of days is a small shop and then settle in and enjoy your stay! We even include a complimentary weekly service if you are staying with us for longer than 7 days.

Many guests do get a little confussed with what self-contained apartments provide - however we are here to help in any way possible and endevour for all of our guests to have a fantastic stay!

We look forward to your next stay with us at The Miro Apartments!

I stayed at The Miro for about four nights with my business partner for some meetings. Astra the manager was extremely accommodating and helpful. The place was full self contained, it was like a home away from home and all our staff will be staying there for any future business in Fortitude Valley.

Was looking for a nice, clean, inexpensive option in Fortitude Valley for the gf and myself. Found the Miro through a price comparison site and based my choice off the great price and pictures.

The room I stayed in was absolutely beautiful, funky, and spacious. Kitchen utensils were sparkling clean and had everything I needed to cook a nice dinner (minus ingredients). Bathroom, living room, balcony, and floors were spotless. You cannot ask for a better option, especially in the Valley.

Joanne in reception was very professional and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Got me in my room much earlier than I should have, and explained everything about the premises in detail.

I will not hesitate to pick this hotel next time I need accommodation in Brisbane.

We stayed at the Miro apartments for three weeks in June 2012 and we were 100 per cent happy with all aspects of the stay
The accomodation was very clean, well furnished, well equiped and had a perfect location, close to the CBD and close to the night life of Fortitude Valley but was surprisingly quiet at night despite it's location
Esther (the manager) and Joanne on reception were excellent, always greeted you with a smile, were very courteous and extremely helpful
Would I recoomend The Miro apartments ? ...... Yes certainly
Would I say you got value for money ? .......... yes certainly
Could I find anything negative to say ? .......... probably not

Firstly, although advertised as a one bedroom apartment, it is more of a studio as there is no wall around the bedroom. Instead, there is a rail from which a flimsy, yellowing curtain hangs. In fact when you are in bed, you feel as if you are in a hospital ward, thanks to the rail and curtain,

The bed is comfortable, pillows horrible. The bedroom window has a blockout blind but fitting is poor and the very bright lights outside come into the bedroom around the sides of the blind making sleep almost impossible for someone like me who needs a dark room in order to go to sleep. Combined with the noise - see below - I had 3 sleepless nights - not good when you have to face a full business day.

Kitchen is ok - just. The advertised oven is a combined microwave/conventional oven and the instructions provided are inadequate. I got the microwave going but couldnt figure how to use the conventional oven. Forget any real cooking as utensils are very limited - no tongs, spatula, small sharp knife or egg lifter. No cutting board, despite notices asking you not to cut on the kitchen bench. I used a plate which is never a good surface. Only one large, fairly blunt cook's knife. The only pots were a single enormous pot and very large frypan. Such a waste of energy to have to boil a big pot of water to cook a few vegies.

Noise. Fortitude Valley is a noisy area so the hotel cant control the noise from the street or the apartments next door at the back where the residents are extremely noisy. However this property's own "no noise" policy doesnt seem to be enforced as there was considerable noise from other inconsiderate guests/residents each night, combined with frequent, loud banging of apartment doors, sreeching noise from the floor of the apartment above. Most coneversations seemed to be conducted at the top of their voices on the walkways outside other apartments. Overall, the noise level here was just not pleasant, or relaxing in any way.

Location is good - a short walk to James Street and all it offers. A short taxi ride to the CBD or even walk if energetic. 100 metres to Brunswick Street. However, the Miro is up the hill at the Brunswick Street end of Robertson Street and this part of the street is very dark and poorly lit at night. Even though these days the Valley is much safer than it used to be, I would not want to walk that street alone after nightfall.

I come to Brisbane frequently but will not return to the Miro.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street. I'm sure there are many other apartments in Brisbane that a...

A friend and I were visiting from Melbourne for a concert so we decided to stay for a total of 4 nights. Upon arrival we were 'hassled' about the no party policy and noice control. It was very inappropriate to assume we would create such issues. Furthermore we had guests over and they visited regularly however we were warned that they better be gone by the time reception closes which is not part of Miro Rules and regulation. The experience overall was very pressurizing and we definately did not feel like valued guests and in conclusion not worth the low rate accommodation.

We 4 nights at the Miro Apartments in June 2012, in a two bedroom apartment with a friend and found the layout very offputting, as you walk into the apartment the first of two bedrooms was located just inside the door with a filmy curtain as the only barrier, not really ideal as we were just two friends travelling together and not a family. We did call reception to see if they had another apartment that actually had a wall and door or in the alternative a thicker curtain, and found that they only had one (it was already in use). If perhaps they had mentioned this on their website or in the spiel on their online sites (we booked through Quickbeds, but double checked their website before booking), and had been pre-warned it would have been ok (we wouldn't have booked the room, but it would help to pre-inform travellers allowing people to make up their own minds about whether or not they mind this layout). Also the apartment was very dirty, the exhaust fan in the upstairs bathroom didn't work and was covered in clumps of dust, all the walls were marked in the apartment, and both bathrooms were mouldy. The only good thing to say about these apartments is there location is excellent.
