Found this place to be nice and different from the others. Good facilities, nice people and friendly atmosphere. Was a bit put off by having to give a deposit for cutlery set but it was only $10 and soon realised that more hostels should do it, it meant the kitchen was always clean and tidy as people actually did there dishes so they could get there deposit back. It's a very casual laid back hostel and great family feel. Felt very welcomed by the management and other backpackers as soon as we all arrived.

Smelly place full of cats, rusty pipes, noise and too many porn videos. Stayed one night and gone early the next morning. The picture on the website must have been taken the first day they opened.

Booked in for 2 nights stayed 2weeks, when i first arrived i was a bit dubious as it looks a little rundown from the outside, however once i got inside realised it was just part of the character of the place. Arrived at 8am wasn't meant to check in till 2pm but the lovely guy on reception (Chris) got my room ready within 15mins and he was really helpful, showed me round the hostel told me exactly where everything was then introduced me to everyone that was up. Like i say i extended my stay cos i just didn't want to leave. If you like a relaxed non-commercial hostel where you know your gonna get looked after and have fun but still be able to sleep then i would recommend you look at this place first, if on the other hand, you want a pool, bar and no conversation then definitely book elsewhere. Will definitely be telling everyone i meet to book here and will be back before i fly home from brissy! Thanks guys you were awesome xx

This hostel has everything anyone could need when visitng Brisbane. It caters for all sorts of people from backpackers to professionals and, because of its fantasitc location, it's always in demand. Just like the city itself, the atmosphere of this place was terrific-everyone is so friendly and helpful and willing to enjoy themselves. It has so much character and, with it, so much warmth and I would recommend this place to anyone.

I checked out these reviews after i had booked and was really fretting about staying there until we arrived, it was explained that the new lovely couple had just taken over the management and all the things that have been moaned about previously ...like sheet washing before checkout etc had been changed and they were slowly trying to bring the standard back up! They also now offer a Home cooked meal most sundays where they put in a lot of effort, we managed to book in for the roast chicken with all the trimmings and it was awesome....the hostel is a little dated but small and friendly all the long termers are really friendly and are a wealth of knowledge about brissy, and not at all clicky like some hostels i've been in......will definately be coming back after sydney to stay there and look for work!

We Arrived on the 6th to check in during the afternoon. The building looks pleasant from the outside until you take the journey inside to explore. The receptionist guy was having an argument with another irish couple who were not getting their money back, for their room key for some unknown reason. The guy then mentioned he had maggotts in the rooms the other day- says it all really!!!! To get to our room we tried the front door which we were told doesnt actually open (howver it looks like it could be broken into it wasnt secure at all). We walked around the back of the building to go under in order to get to our bedroom. The Room was dark and dingy, with a double bed which looked like it could carry bed bugs quite happily! The kitchen was gross, and we certainly wouldnt contemplate on cooking there!!! We decided to find somewhere else and when it came to booking out so we could collect our $20 key deposit there was no one there. We waitied for about an hour and still no one was on the premises, which we thought was odd as we also rung the emergency number that was l;eft at reception. So all in all we paid $60 in toal for a disgusting room plus $20 for a room key deposit, we lost out on a lot. We eventuall moved to Base backpackers which costs $40 each for a double and is soooo much nicer. You certainly dont feel like your going to catch something here!!!!!
