“A must go when visiting Cairns!”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

Travelling From Townsville to Cairns I heard about Josephine Falls from Tripadvisor. I'm so glad I did go because it is absolutely beautiful. The natural waterslide is so much fun and on a hot day the water is just perfect.

The only problems were that it was a bit crowded, and I seemed to get bitten a lot by flys. But that was a once off so I don't know, maybe it was just a good day for them. And it is a bit of a walk to the swimming spot so be prepared for that.

“Resident giant eel !”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

I've been a local to the area for a long time so here's a little insider information. We all know Josephine falls is the best swim location in FNQ but if you go, take a set of goggles to see under water with. If you are lucky and you go when there are no people around late in the day. You could possibly come across the resident giant eel! Don't worry he's that old he's blind and relies on vibration. I know this because I've had an encounter with him where we were littarly face to face.he's about 1.5-8 m long and 150 mm in diameter and lives in the main pool. The middle pool at the bottom of the second water fall is the yabbie pool. This were all the yabbies hang out. If you sit still and long enough they come and feed off your dead skin,it tickles. So there you go enjoy! Cookie

“Rock sliding at J Falls”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

I went to Josephine falls at the weekend which was a great spot to hang out for an afternoon.

There is a short 700m walk on a paved path from the carpark to 3 look outs. The top one show a beautiful fall and rock pool, unfortunately you can't swim at the top one due to a previous death there which was a bit morbid, but still very pretty.

The lower pool is accessable by climbing over a few rocks. The swim is refreshing and once you reaxch the other side of the pool (only 5 or so meters), there is a nice flat rock to lie out on and have a picnic with some shade. Although you need to get across without getting your stuff wet! We took a inflatable tube which was a great idea as there is a rock slide there which was great fun sliding down and then bobbing in the cold waters of the rock pool. You can slide down the rock just on your bum too as it's a pretty smooth slippery surface.

At the weekends it gets pretty busy but I imagine at the weekend it would be quiet.

“Beautiful waterfall and pools”
Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Had a lovely time at this beautiful waterfall - kids loved the 'rock slide'. Has toilet facilities and is an easy walk from the car park along a paved and well maintained walkway. The drive to get there takes you off the highway thru farm land which is lovely. Cane fields and banana crops line the road - watch out for cane trains during harvest!

“Must be great to see in a storm”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

This is a very spectacular water fall and swimming area. As with the creek at Boulder Rocks it had a forest walk along its banks. The waterfall is very spectacular and would be something to see in full flood. very humid on the walk but there are a number of places to swim, one with a rock "slippery slide". not for the faint hearted, or young children though. Take heed of the warning signs at all times
