“kitchen meltdown? something wrong.”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

All we ordered was a couple of bowls of pho. We waited a very long time for it. It was average. The waiter was very apologetic and kept telling us "two minutes" but it tool over 30 minutes to arrive. The flavour was average when it did come. the table next to us ordered what may have been sweet and sour something. It was alarmingly red. They didn't finish it. Approach this restaurant with caution.

“Best place to eat!”
Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

This is probably my favourite place to eat in Darwin. I have no idea how many times I have come here over the last decade, but it must be in the hundreds. Yes, the service can be erratic, even confusing, it's noisy, and sometimes you can't get a seat, but the food is fantastic. Wonton soup is beautiful, love the vegetable rice paper rolls with the killer dipping sauce, crispy chicken, the vermicelli with beef, the Mongolian beef and so on. It's BYO, best to book if going later in the evening.

“First visit to restaurant”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

We went along with another couple who really enjoyed going to this place
It has a pleasant covered outdoor seating area on one side of the pavement and the restaurant itself has limited seating inside
It is a busy place on a Friday night but all of Darwin is like that, it's still no excuse however to to get 2 of the 6 orders wrong
Our friends found the food disappointing on this visit, the quail starter they said was tough and one of the main courses, the pork overdone
Still a fun location and reasonably cheap meal for Darwin at $30 per head for starter and main course
Take your own wine which is a bonus
Staff are friendly and pleasant but just poorly trained I guess
Would we go again, well let's say no rush plenty of other places to try and in fairness our friends did say they had always had a better meal than this night
This tells me if you go there then go knowing its pot luck

“Nice 'Chinese' Vietnamese Restauant”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

Vietnam Saigon Star. Signs say "Traditional Vietnamese cuisine", however menu is almost completely Chinese. Friendly, helpful staff don't deny that cuisine is Chinese. Perhaps the locals don't like Vietnamese food or don't care that it is mislabeled? BYO only with very reasonable corkage ($1.50 pp) - Woolworth's Liquor is nearby. The Cryspy [sic] Skin chicken was excellent and sizzling Garlic Chicken with Vegetables was very good. The "Lychees and icecream" was swimming unannounced in caramel sauce, which was begrudgingly replaced. Don't really like Chinese food that much so won't recommend.
