Description: Hanuman Darwin first opened its doors in 1992. Originally located at the Bennet Street end of Mitchell Street, the restaurant moved to its current location late 2007.We are delighted with the new setting. As part of the Holiday Inn Esplanade complex the restaurant incorporates a beautiful deck dining area and stylish cocktail bar. With seating for 90 people outside and a further 90 inside, be prepared to immerse yourself in a truly exotic experience. The furnishings, tableware and artworks have been sourced from around the world and the lighting will take your breath away.

Love this place, the flavors are incredible.
Although a little pricey, the main courses are quite large.
The tasting plate is sooo tasty. The whole fish is also hard to go past. And don't forget to add your naan bread!
Yum.

For consistent fresh produce cooked in a variety of Asian styles - with a twist, you cannot go past Hanuman. The staff is well trained and courteous and the decor is comfortable and practical. It is a must when in Darwin. It is enormously popular and so it should be. The whole barra is brilliant, the Nonya rice is slice of Indonesia and the vegetable dishes are all interesting and tasty, even non vegans.

This restaurant came highly recommended and we joined a large party to give it a try. The range of food was a trip through Asia and served buffet style. It was a very enjoyable meal partnered by an extensive if a little expensive wine and drinks list.

Word of mouth is the best advertisement and this Darwin institution has great word of mouth.
My friend and I were only in Darwin (a first-time visit for me) for a couple of nights and Hanuman was highly recommended by several aquaintances.
We rang for a reservation but couldn't score a table before 9pm on the Saturday night so made a booking for the Monday night. I was expecting a standard-sized Asian restaurant so was quite surprised when we fronted to find it was huge (seats around 180 people).
For a restaurant to be able to have two sittings on a Saturday night at that size is rare, so we figured they must be good at what they do... and they are.
We had a fabulous, reasonably priced meal with courteous, prompt service. My companion is a gluten-avoiding vegetarian and she had a large number of dishes from which to choose.
Interesting blend of cuisines; you'd be hard-pressed to not find something to suit your tastebuds.
There were a lot of family groups the night we dined, a lot of whom were of Indian and Malay heritage which is always a good sign in a restaurant that features those cuisines.
Family groups equals noisy so not a place for an intimate dining experience, but great food, good value. Wish this one was just around the corner!

Heard this place was good, and not disappointed. Gets very busy, so we were lucky to get a table, but they squeezed us in. Friendly, effiicient service. Good range of beers. Food was excellent. Had the paneer mutter (Indian version of cheesy peas) and it was very nice, though too much for me to eat. Wide range of veggie dishes, including some meat dishes that can be made vegetarian (not sure how). Thoroughly recommended.
