read the reports before booking this hotel , and used trip advisor as a guide , we paid $140 night ,and got a double bed in a separate room with its own air conditioner and ceiling fan , also a fold out sofa bed which we didn't need in a combined lounge , kitchenette area (also with its own airconditioner & fan) , a very basic kitchen with limited cooking utensils and separate bathroom with toilet , also a balcony overlooking Knuckey St with 2 chairs and table, and outdoor pool, & use of BBQ . If you are expecting 5 star accommodation with this place , you will be disappointed , but for what we paid we were very happy , as we could have our owns meals if we wanted , it was very close to everything ( we didn't hire a car) but car park would have been free , and the pool was dated but very clean and cool and we used it a lot , we also used the BBQ , but you had to buy everything yourself, keep that in mind . Staff were friendly but language barrier was a bit of a problem with a couple of them , the lift was terrible as it had no fan or air circulation and we dreaded getting in it each time , especially when it was 85% humidity ! friends stayed in a star resort for the same price but no balcony or kitchen . If you a practical traveller I would give it a go . PS we didn't even hear the noise of the building site right next door!

Room Tip: not on the ground floor, or next to the building site apartments they are building

I've stayed here several times now and always had a pleasant experience.
I always book a studio through wotif, which is around $100 a night and although you can do better than that price at several other places in Darwin, you're not going to get a kitchenette or a private balcony.
The rooms have always been clean and the air con good. Security might be an issue with the lift open to anyone passing by on the street, but I've never noticed anything or anyone dodgy around the place.

We stayed here as everywhere was booked or more expensive. The rooms are clean, and its opposite the Mantra Pandanas. The rooms are ok, and nothing special, but they do have a little kitchen area with a hot plate stove, a toaster, some plates etc. The air conditioner struggled in the heat. The room has a little balcony, but the cane furniture in it had seen better days. The hotel has its own car parking although it can be hard to get a car into some of the parking bays. The hotel only has one elevator. The hotel has a pool, which looks nice, and it also has a gas bbq for use. Its a good hotel with good value for money.

Was here for a week last week in a one bed apartment. Yes, the rooms are pretty old school, but I found they were kept clean; the service was excellent and all the staff very accomodating. The aircon and fans are more than adequate to keep it all cool. The kitchenette is well appointed; fine for breakfast and lunch, although a three course meal is out of the question on the electric benchtop stove. There is some construction going on next door (which looks to continue for a while - although I found this to be true throughout Darwin!!), so if you're a day time sleeper this might be an issue. However, I found it to be no inconvenience whatsoever. Would stay again.

the room they checked me in to had wet carpets, the light switch was broken and the TV did not work, after i requested a room change they down graded me to a smaller room with 2 x single beds, which would not be a bad thing if i was 10 years old!!
after i settled in to the down graded room i tried to hook up to the internet, i looked through the draws to try and find the internet sign up instructions, only to find a condom, lube and body locition in the draw, this would not be a bad thing if they were not half used!!
i spoke to a local about it and he told me that escorts use the building as a place to work out of.
they were happy to change me back to a full size room the following day once a room became available, happy days.
the new room was clean and tidy (no wet carpets), but if i wanted to use the internet i had to basicly sit at the front door for the reception to be strong enough, minor issue i moved on.
time for a shower, only to have dirty water coming out of the taps, there must of been some pipe work carried out, but reception neglected to inform anyone of the issue.
this hotel was just one issue after another, as much as the reception tried to resovle the issues the issues just kept coming.
if i was in a 3rd word country paying dollars a day i would have no issue with the facilities and the issues that kept coming up, but when you are paying decent money for a hotel not in a 3rd world country you do expect that the issues would be far and few between.
i could have stayed at the Hilton on the Esplinade for less money

Room Tip: wotif.com.au, check there for a better deal before signing up for Luma Luma

Good sized rooms, comfy beds, good air conditioning and a nice pool but CRAWLING WITH COCKROACHES! Maybe this is the norm in the tropics but I couldn't even put food down for a moment without it being swarmed.
If you are looking for a place with a useable kitchenette, I suggest you keep looking.

After reading some reviews on here I wasn't sure what I was expecting. Have to say that yes, rooms are a little dated and could do with new curtains and bit if freshening up, but overall a good place to stay that was quite reasonable. My brother and I had a room with two single beds that was just what we needed. Service was very good. Only negative was that the pool was out of action for the two days we were here. Being from Melbourne I was not coping too well with the heat! I'd stay here again if I was looking for reasonable accommodation in a great spot - so close to shops, bars and restaurants!
