We stayed from 6-8 Feb 2014. We arrived very early in the morning, well before check-in time. The night shift front desk lady was clearly tired and so when we asked about the possibility of checking in before the normal time (2pm), her responses were a bit perfunctory, but she was nice enough to suggest a nearby cafe (Java Spice, just around the corner) where we could sit awhile.
We ended up being able to check in about a half-hour ahead of time. The standard motel rooms were perfectly adequate - nothing flashy but given we paid $99 per room per night I think they were pretty good value, especially for Darwin. Each room had a queen and a single bed, ensuite with shower, toilet and sink, a television, mini-fridge and coffee- and tea-making facilities. The rooms are air-conditioned and also have ceiling fans. There was a separate set of towels in the wardrobe if you wanted to use the pool. There were no issues with cleanliness whatsoever, and the housekeeping ladies were very friendly and polite when we did bump into them. The resort also accommodated our request to extend our booking for an extra half day for $50, though they did mention this was only an option during the quieter wet season.
In general, reception was very helpful when we sought information on transport, food and attractions. In particular, Emma was excellent. She gave us extensive recommendations on the best places to eat both in the waterfront precinct and at the Skycity casino. She also suggested alternative activities when our jumping crocodile tour was cancelled because the highway flooded.
I would stay there again.
