“Pricey and not what it used to be”
Reviewed April 27, 2014 via mobile

This used to be a breathe of fresh air in Darwin and I would frequent it at least weekly for coffee and cake. It seems now though that the cake choice has dwindled and isn't as fresh as it used to be. The service is still quick and the cold water and towels is nice. But the lack of prices is what catches you out - an ice coffee and ham/cheese/tomato crossiant cost $20.50!! I'm sorry Java Spice but it will be awhile before I venture back.

“What a gem!”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

What a delight out of nowhere. In the CBD, on a normally very quiet Sunday offering, Jaca Spice was busy and buzzy, cool and comfortable, and served us a delicious morning tea with far too many cake choices! Recommended immediately to friends, I'll certainly be coming back when in town again from Melbourne.

“Don't fall for the smoke and mirrors.”
Reviewed April 24, 2014 via mobile

I think the decor of this cafe might distract from the actual offerings of the cafe. Considering the Darwin climate there is a shortage of cold drink offerings. Most are just bottled beverages (which like all cafés are way over priced). Since the reviews for this cafe rave about it I would say they must know a lot of people who review because while their limited offering is okay, it's not amazing and fantastic and amazing again like the reviews say. Average.

“Classy and upmarket”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

The first time I visited this cafe I wondered if I'd been tele-ported interstate. It's got class and style with a substantial touch of Asia which suits the Darwin lifestyle. Love the comfortable and quirky chairs and art work. Coffee and cakes are good, but my grumble is that the prices seem to be a secret - yes, if you have to ask you can't afford it is a familiar maxim....but in a cafe? Seriously guys, put prices on your displays or the menu.

Love the chilled clothes for hand washing and the ice cold water....very Bali.
