Always arrive at least one hour before sunset, so you can wander around check out the local products, there's always something new, get a foot massage, buy an orchid, a crocodile tooth or wallet or some local art - then make the tough decision about what you will eat, then go and sit on the beach and enjoy the sunset. Sometimes the crowd breaks out into automatic response clapping which is delightful - yes, Darwin's sunsets are impressive. My favourite is a mango and banana smoothie with a hint of honey! I get this first, wander around, buy a curry and sit on the beach and chill out! Heather@staffmanagement.com.au

If you read the travel guides it lists Mindil Beach Market as a great attraction. It was a decidedly average market without any views of the beaches from which it takes its name. Having said that its a good place to buy a digeridoo. You can afford to miss this off your itinerary

I love Mindil. Such a Territory icon.
If you havent been. Come down. Keep in mind, its always busy. PRAMS, are not a good idea. Its really hard to get around and it slows u down. Trust me ( i dont have kids) but you see this all too often). Dont forget to bring your camera to catch that sunset pic on the beach.Try and get to the beach for 615pm/ Car parkign can be a nightmare, so try to get there, just before 6

This is an overated experience. The markets are not on the beach but in a park on the highway and a tourist trap.

Mindil Beach is beautiful and the sunsets are amazing, however the markets are apparently world famous... I'm not sure how! A lot of it is food, and not of great quality!
