July 2013 we visited the Red Centre and Darwin .Travelling on The Ghan from Adelaide to Alice The Rock King's Canyon Katherine Lichfield Kakadu NP and the wonderful Jumping Croc's on the East Alligator River. Two weeks in Darwin was amazing. We stayed at Fanny Bay and watched the sunsets from the Mindel Market Beach and several other vantage points. The open deck city bus trip is worth doing and most of the attractions are within walking distance. A cold glass of local beer at 5pm is a must. AAT Kings bus tours are the way to do the long trips. Altogether Darwin is a must place to visit and don't be in a rush.

Good re-development that leads to the Town Centre. Luxurious flats, good views and nearby swimming lagoon and Conference Centre. Although not completed there are already a few good restaurants, cafes and shops.

Sunset on Stokes Hill Wharf is a must in Darwin. Choose a quiet night, with a beautiful sunset and walk through the new Waterfront district to the Stokes Wharf to have dinner at one of the price worthy outlets there. You won't be disappointed, it's worth the view, the company, the casual fun, the beauty of the bay and the amazing food and dessert opportunities.
Take in the sight, watch the boats, the fishing boats, the navy boats, the patrols, the helicopters and mingle with the crowd.
You will have a great time, guaranteed!

You can't beat the location for a sunset meal on the wharf, but the food can be a little hit and miss. The chips seem to be there only for feeding the fish off the wharf, they really aren't very good... but it's worth heading out there to watch the fish, the sunset in the clouds, and if you're lucky the lightning off the coast!

The wharf precinct is still under development, however is definitely worth a visit. There are lots of high end restaurants that have excellent food. The wave lagoon is loads of fun. And the scenery is spectacular.
