“Convenient Location but Pricey”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

Stayed 4 nights and the room is too cramped and could have been spacious without the 3rd single bed. There is no half day check if you check in early morning although it is stated in their room manuals. Full day charge is applicable and I find it very unfair just for another 4-5 hours. Price is high as compared to the neighbouring hotels. Ashton Lodge is only AUD65 per room night. Location though convenient, it is a noisy street. But staff at the Melolurca on Mitchell which is a hostel and check in is done by them, are more helpful than the Value Inn staff itself. Pool is very unkempt. But credit goes to the Housekeeping staff who does a good cleaning job both inside the room and along the corridors of the room. They take pains to make a thorough cleaning. But still there was a cockroach running around.

Room Tip: Disable Travellers - do not take the higher floors. Lifts are a little rocky. Ask for ground floor b...

Stayed two nights in a tiny, smelly room in this very smokey hotel in the main street. Despite signs prohibiting smoking in the hotel, the place I surrounded by smokers nonstop and you never get a break from it filling the room. The service is entirely bereft of smiles and the price barely lives down to the standard of the room.

Worked out similar price to the other hostels in the area and appreciate the en suite and tv!(based on sharing a room in wet season). Right in the middle of Darwin centre, clean, comfortable (air con). Pool is nice on a hot day.

check in after their office hour is very troublesome. have to ask around and manage to know where is the check in location after spending 10-15 mins. Also the car park is limited and they have auto gate to lock and again have to go behind the other side when you check in after office hour. The room is very small with 1 double and 1 single bed inside it. The bed sheet is not clean properly with a strange smell on it. I have to get from them another set and change it myself. The pay internet service inside the room not working.

Room Tip: good location but the room is poor

This is definitely a hotel that could best be described as a high-end budget hotel. Rooms are smallish but are nevertheless very clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are stocked with the absolute basics, and a shower curtain ensures that the floor is wet all the way to the door.

Located in the heart of the city (Mitchell Street) it can be a bit rowdy after hours, however there is very good security. The complex is fairly self contained with good internet facilities, a 24 hr desk, entertainment deck, laundry facilities etc. Good vehicle parking is also available.

In 'off' season this hotel is reasonably priced, but when the rain stops the prices skyrocket... as is probably the case anywhere in Darwin.

VID, whilst basic in its room facilities, is clean and comfortable, and surrounded by eating houses and pubs... especially pubs.

Room Tip: Try for a ground floor room.

Cheap and cheerful, clean, good location. If you need. A bed for the night this is it. Good location in Mitchell St. A little noisy for me but it was a quick stopover for me anyway.the airport shuttle can't drop off outside so that was a pain with a large case. As I said , ideal for backpackers and those on a budget.

This place was alright. Small rooms but considering the location right on Mitchell St in Darwin it is a fair trade off. It is very good on price, we paid $75/night... The staff were not very helpful and could seriously do with a boost of morale. Just acted like they really didn't want to be there. Everything felt like it was too hard. During our stay we had a couple of issues with fire alarms being set off, 1 at 1230am and another during the day. I guess to be expected these things can't be helped. Overall would I go back, no.
