Reviewed May 18, 2013 via mobile

Found in Darwin CBD, the place is within walking distance to most restaurants and shops. It is a cheap stay for the price we paid and also got the value we paid for. The room is small and we were welcomed by a strong smell of bleach. Aircon was noisy, and the beds were uncomfortable. We had to share a single bed as the queen bed was hard and uneven. The room was surprisingly quiet, but I think it's the airconditioning drying out the outside noise. Good overnight stay if you are just passing through.

Very cramped room even for one person, although room is advertised for three people. Other guests rather strange characters. Very expensive for the type of room. No breakfast included. No wi-fi available. It is very central and across the road from Coles. The pool is very small. Check-in is very efficient and friendly.

Hi J J,

Thank you for your review of Value Inn one of Darwin's most centrally located budget properties.
We are pleased that you found the check in friendly and efficient. Wifi is available at a cost of $4 for 24 hours from our reception. Although breakfast is not included in our room rate we do have breakfast boxes available for guests if they do not want to go to one of the great cafe's that are around us.

We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your trip to Australia.

Sheena and the team at Value Inn.

I recently made my very first trip to Darwin & was not expecting it to be so hot and humid - I had been warned by friends. Desperate for a cool place to escape to I found the Value Inn. The rooms are small, but plenty that didn't bother me or my friends. The staff were friendly and very helpful with tips of what to do in Darwin and surrounding areas. BBQ facilities available in the pool area, which was lovely and clean, but if you don't want to BBQ you can use the big kitchen at the property next door (Melaleuca on Mitchell) I believe the two properties are tied together as guests of the Value Inn can use all their facilities. Two lovely big pools to cool off in, a small spa as well as laundry facilities. We initially only booked in for one night as we weren't too sure on our plans, but we were having such a great time we extended for a week! You are close to everything in the CBD, and no shortage of pubs, clubs or restaurants to try each night. We found the Value Inn, while located on busy Mitchell Street to be very quiet. When I return to Darwin later in the year I will certainly be making the Value Inn my first place to get accommodation.

After reading some reviews on here I was a bit worried about this hotel but it was fine... yes the rooms are very small but they were clean, the aircon, fridge, tv, kettle and shower all worked and the beds were ok. Staff were helpful and we didn't hear any noise from the backpackers next door or the traffic. It's across the road from the bus transit centre, Coles, a couple of bars and heaps of food places. Two minutes walk to Crocosaurus Cove (get $5 off entry if you buy your ticket fom the hotel) and 5 minutes to the main shopping mall. 1 block over is the esplanade and park with walking path along the water front (no swimming). Use of the facilities next door is handy, cheapest internet we found on our NT trip.

We were booked in for 2 nights. Rooms tiny and bathroom/shower even tinier. VERY strong smell of bleach, so at least we knew the bathroom had been cleaned. Very old pillows, hard bed and the walls needed a good coat of paint (you could see sweat stains on the wall where people leaned up to watch TV). The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and we were constantly awoken by noisy guests knocking on doors trying to find their rooms. In the morning we decided to move out, and were quite surprised, but very thankful that our 2nd night would be refunded.

Hello Bevandbaz,

Thank you for your review of Value Inn, a centrally located budget accommodation property in Darwin. We are pleased that you found that the room was clean. They are a compact room with an ensuite bathroom. I have passed on your feedback about the moisture marks on the wall to our housekeeping team. This does occur sometimes with the humidity that we experience.

We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Darwin.

Our stay was fine apart from one morning (when we advised them we were staying another night the night before) we had the manager banging on our door at 10 am (this one the one sleep in we got to have after being on the road in kakadu for 10 nights)

She was screaming and banging telling us we had to pack our bags and leave in 5 minutes as they needed to clean for another visitor.

We advised her we had booked another night but she kept Screamed at us to get out (because we were half asleep and not really talking). We put up a fight as we were extremely upset about about this and nothing worked. We started packing our bags and my partner said no I am going to see someone else. So he found the other manager who was lovely and knew we were staying another night and she sorted us out no problem at all.

This particular manager was nothing but a rude! After that horrible experience we would never ever stay there again and never recommend it! There was NO need for her nastiness!!!!!!!

And there was no apology by her just snarls
