Apartment on 5th floor had everything I needed except water ... see another review. But there was bottled water in the bar at very reasonable cost and chilled.
Only drawback was noise from backpackers' place opposite but this ceased quite early.
Reception was helpful and printed out my boarding pass etc.
Restaurant was inefficient and order was incorrect when it came but ?Manager took it off my bill.
AC was quiet and good.

A well situated place and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Pay extra for Bay view - I arrived after dark so didn't bother - see noise issue.

While it has an enviable esplanade position this hotel has definitely seen better days. It is tired and listless. It's air conditioning system is noisy and intrusive. For a hotel in a tropical city it has has no cold water in the fridge and expects you to bury expert dive (tepid) bottled water! During our visit we had a fire alarm and this twice in a week! Being marched downstairs is one thing but no one from the hotel checked that we were safe or indeed even apologised for the inconvenience .. I will certainly never stay here again.

We had an appartment on the 7th. floor and we had great views. The appartnemts are well stocked with all the things you need and the rooms are well furnished. The hotel location is most handy and plenty of eating places nearby.

We were lucky to be upgraded to a penthouse suite on the 8th floor, and it was lovely. We had 2 bedrooms,2 bathrooms and a huge sitting/dining area with balconies overlooking the ocean. The aircon wasn't brilliant but OK., and the beds were very comfortable. We also had a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine +tumble drier in the bathroom as well.
Breakfast was plentiful, with good choices of cooked and continental. Service was prompt, and mainly friendly. They stored 2 cases for us when we had a 3 day trip to the Kakadu. Which was helpful
Our room was quiet, well away from road noise. I expect the back rooms overlooking Mitchell St could be noisy
Hotel well placed for exploring Darwin as a tourist, on foot or by the Hop on hop off bus which stopped almost by the back of the hotel
Downsides--2 false fire alarms, one late at night and one early in the morning. Looking at other Tripadvisor reviews this is a common problem

This hotel was not great. I stayed for two nights, on the first night the fire alarms went off and there were no fire warden directing people - it was around midnight and people were just in a bit of a haze. A friend stayed at the same hotel a week earlier and said the alarms went off twice in that week - all false alarms.

I did not find the staff particularly helpful and the room was quite noisy. The airconditioner was not working properly and all up my experience was poor. The food was also very very average.

I would not recommend this hotel as there are better places to stay in Darwin. The location however is fabulous.

Room Tip: Good location average hotel - stay here as a last resort.
