“Coin donation”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

It is in need of upkeep but guess its free so can't complain too much. Some very interesting stories especially about the last guy hung. The council bus stop wasn't very handy though

“A Haunting Silence”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

Take the time to walk around and experience the hot and dry conditions of the gaol. Listen to the silence and imagine the feelings and lives of the inmates of the gaol over its lifetime. Read up on some of the facts and the impacts of wild weather and the Japanese bombings during WW11. Not an everyday story. Stand next to the gallows and peer into the pit and view the exectioners handle. Free too, so enjoy the experience.

“Haunting History”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

People complain that it's hot inside. Yes, it is. Take a bottle of water, a hat and camera with you and wander around. Imagine that being your living space and you'll see it through different eyes. Lots of stories behind those walls about local, indigenous and refugee detainment, and corporal punishment - all going on until not that long ago. It's important to remember history and let it shape our treatment of others who are now in custody. A harsh environment that makes you thankful for the most meagre of living spaces.

“Spend an hour”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

If you have time on your hands visit the Goal at Fannie Bay and learn about its inmates and the last persons hung 60 years ago
Primitive conditions for all concerned for both men and women and at the end of it all stand outside the main gate and have your picture taken next to the HM GOAL sign

Great to see easy to find gold coin donation on entry. Great history really takes you back in time history lessons all over the walls. See the hanging chamber was a sight to remember...
