Unfortunately this restaurant has simply gone down hill. We decided to go to Essence after the original restaurant we booked had to close for the night due to unforeseen circumstances. We should have stayed home. The staff there are very pleasant there is just not enough of them. Service was slow and when entrees did come out the kitchen forgot one of them. We tried unsuccessfully to attract someone's attention to let them know after waiting 10 mins. Eventually we had to get up and go looking for the other entree. The missing entree arrived 20mins after the rest of us had finished. We had also ordered wine and beer. The wine arrived but no beer, we had to ask 3 times. It is very pricey for what you get at this restaurant. Scotch fillet with 2 boiled potatoes and red wine sauce will set you back $38, any sides you want with it will be another $10 per side.the steak I had was nice but nothing to write home about. My friend had the half chicken and once again just an ok meal. The stars would be our husbands who chose the pizzas which were very nice.
This is a restaurant attached to The Rydges Airport Resort and the prices reflect that. We don't mind paying for good quality and good service,unfortunately we did not get either of those.
Also when we went to leave we ordered a taxi from the front desk. Some guests of the hotel ordered a taxi after us but they were giving the taxis to the guests first. Eventually we had to call our own taxi to get home. Not a good look for this hotel. I hope they pick up their service as we have a conference over a weekend in June with a large Gala Dinner there.
