Very nice place to visit for dual history of the RFDS and also the Wartime era.

Not a big place but lots of little things to do, our favourite being the virtual reality headsets !

Well done Darwin on this wharf side venue full of info and history!

This attraction has so much history viewed through modern technology. The hologram movies about the bombing of Darwin and the start of the RFDS was so interesting. The demonstration of the bombing after the air raid siren gave you shivers! There’s also a RFDS plane to look through. Then the virtual reality was the ultimate experience. It felt so real that I was holding on to my seat so I wouldn’t fall out!!! Staff were lovely. Well worth seeing this attraction.

This is a small museum, the main interest for me being the bombing of Darwin in 1942, though it also covers the Royal Flying Doctor Service. There are very informative displays both on the bombing and the RFDS. A highlight is the approx 8 minutes virtual reality of the bombing, which was both moving and illuminating, so much so I did the VR twice. There is also a RFDS Pilatus plane set up as it would be if in action. As a final point of interest the museum is on the very wharf which was bombed and is shown in the VR. I think if your are going to Darwin then this should be on your must do list.

We visited not knowing what to expect. This facility has both the RFDS history and the bombing of Darwin history. Interactive displays were excellent as were the short movies - very realistic and provided backgrounds to both. The virtual reality headset on the bombing of Darwin was spectacular- congratulations on putting this together. Overall a very worthwhile visit - we enjoyed a good 2 hours here.

An unforgettable experience.

Living in Darwin for many years and always meant to go. Finally got a chance when I had to take a tour group through from the cruise ship. What an outstanding presentation. The two hollagrams on the flying doctor service and the bombing of Darwin were outstanding. The information throughout the facility is very interesting and in depth. I found the replication of the bombing of the warf was amazing. Well done guys. Fascinating. The tour group were very impressed.

We have supported the RFDS for many years. This display provided a valuable insight into the history and operations of the Service. It is well worth a visit, time permitting.

Worth a look and the film with it. But expensive entry. Good for those that know nothing about the RFDS On Stokes wharf, which itself is worth a look

We based ourselves at the Darwin River Tavern and did several day trips into Darwin. Another traveller recommended the RFDS tourist facility on Stokes Wharf and while it didn’t sound like a place to visited thoroughly enjoyed our half a day there. The history of the bombing of Darwin was exceptionally well presented as was the history of John Flynn and the RFDS. This place is certainly worth a visit and the fish’n’chip shops adjacent are also good for lunch.
