“Beyond Expectations”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

Longitude 131 proved so beyond what I expected. Nothing was beyond the capabilities of the amazing staff. They must be selected for photographic memories as well as high intelligence and charm. Upon arrival an individual staff member was assigned to us to talk about our likes and preferences and to outline everything which is available to us. When looking over our itinerary which had been arranged previously by an online travel agent, the staff member noticed some errors and set about arranging changes and refunds-how truly amazing! After all this the chef came out to greet us and to check the menu with a cousin who was vegan. He was then provided with a special menu at each meal. Nothing was too much for this staff. The luxury tents did actually provide views of Uluru. I had read about this in a brochure but had assumed it was an exaggeration-it was not. If one can find any fault with Longitude 131 it was the pool which of course was not heated. Since we were there in September, the nights were cool and the pool remained really to cold in which to swim-at least for us. I strongly recomment this amazing place for anyone who wants a taste of unmatched luxury.

131 gave us everything we wanted to celebrate a special birthday.

We started off the day by sitting in bed and watching the rising sun shining on Uluru. This was followed by a champagne breakfast, again with that stunning review of the rock from every table.

The evening activity was Sunset under the Stars (fully inclusive), but we decided we would like to have an intimate dinner on our own, rather than with strangers. The staff responded splendidly. They set up a table for 2 in the library, in candlelight to create the right atmosphere.

We were the only ones dining in house, so the whole place was ours. Before the desert arrived, Tom (chef), Max (waiter) and Felicity (Assistant Manager) arrived with the birthday caked sang the obligatory song and then stayed for a chat. How good is that.

Every day there is a complementary activity at sunrise and at sunset, on a two day cycle. We stayed 3 days, so we could experience the activities and have a bit of time to relax too.

We wanted to extend the sunrise activities to enable us to (a) walk around the base of Uluru and on the following day (b) walk the excellent Valley of the Winds Walk in Kata Tjuta. On both occasions, it was no problem to arrange for us to be picked up later and driven back to the hotel.

131 truly is what the other reviewers claim.

One for a special occasion.

Room Tip: All rooms are positioned to ensure a perfect view of Uluru

It's perfect from booking, getting picked up from the airport, checking-in, dining, tours, check-out & departure! Special mention goes to the wonderful staff - they're all lovely! Thanks to Luke, Kate, Felicity, Sam, Ned, Graeme, Liz, Kelly, Carly, Lewissa, Kane, and all staff -- you made our stay extra special! You are truly the best part of the package -- keep it up!

It is hard to know where to begin in reviewing Longitude 131....every aspect of our stay was beyond expectations! First, Longitude 131 's location is beyond amazing! There are spots throughout the resort to stop and breath in the views. The view from our luxury tented cabin of Ayers Rock was magical! Service was exceptional. Food services was perfection. The excursions were lead by knowledgable, personable guides who went out of their way to ensure we had a meaningful experience. One of our favorite activities was the evening dinner under a million stars, culminating in an experienced stargazer pointing out constellations. Helicopter excursion( additional fee but worth it) was remarkable. Spurge on the 36 minute helicopter excursion.

Room Tip: from Dec through April, there are pesky black flies( non biting)

Never have I stayed anywhere in which the staff have been so wonderful , really nothing at all was too much trouble and I mean nothing ! Don't come here if you are wanting shopping and nightclubs its in the absolute middle of no where. Do come here if you want to see the majestic and compelling Ayers Rock or Uluru as the locals call it. Included in the price are wonderfully informative guided walks with engaging and passionate local guides. Back at base you will have top class accommodation in our case with an uninterrupted view of the rock , waking up to that and falling asleep to it are very special. The food is really excellent amongst the very best we have had anywhere in Australia , the wines also truly excellent no scrimping here on the included wines they were as good as I would buy myself if not better . The dinner under the stars in the bush with a lecture on the astronomy after is magical and as near perfect , in fact it was perfect ! It is perfect luxury in the middle of the harsh beauty of the Australian outback staffed by the best people i have ever encountered in 30 years of travelling.

Room Tip: we had the room called Severin which is in a group of four that are nearest the rock and have totall...

No need to. They have got it just right. Not over fussy, approach only when necessary, and so so friendly. The dining under the stars a beautiful experience. Aborigine dance spectacular. The food very well organised. The flies outside a bit of a pest but we can't blame the resort for that; it is a desert after all, but the staff try their very best to make it comfortable for guests by providing nets to place over your head if you wish. Do not come here expecting there not to be flies. Just enjoy the magnificent opportunity to visit Ayers Rock and see it from your luxury tent window. It feels as if the rock is just a few hundred yards, but obviously isn't. It is so magnificent. Lots of walking tours available if you want to go on them. If not, just enjoy.

We spent 2 nights at this very special place. From the online booking to having our bags personally taken to the check in counter, nothing is too much trouble for this professional, friendly staff. We were well informed of our itinerary and also the off site tours available, such as the Harley Davidson and camel rides. We did the latter, and it was a great way to see the landscape up close. The tours are well thought out, often 2km walks with refreshments provided. Longer walks, such as the base walk and Valley of the Winds can be done, with the staff happy to arrange transport for these.

The view from our tent was unsurpassed. Amenities were everything you would expect for a resort of this calibre and more, including the insect repellent cream and spray and also personal fly nets for each guest.

The menu is varied and the meals were presented beautifully. Any personal dietary requirements are easily catered for. Even the desert dining experience was a four course dinner with paired wines, not to mention the welcome from the didgeredoo or the after dinner star gazing talk.

The highlight for us was the tours. They are conducted in a professional, unhurried, informative yet friendly manner. Thanks Liz and especially to Graeme for sharing your knowledge of this amazing part of the world with us.

The price..yes we initially thought it pricey until you break it down into components. The all inclusive price means no unpleasant surprises at check out!

September was a great time to be here, after the cool of winter, which can drop to minus 5 degrees at night and before the heat of the 45 degree summer.

Would we return..definitely!

Room Tip: Great views of Uluru from all tents, but the row of four in the front were our pick.
