“Two worlds”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

We spend almost a week at this hotel. The upkeep of the hotel is conducted by young and aboriginal people that come from across the country. There were a delight! Easy to talk, happy to assist as much as they can. We didn't try the pool, but looked clean and inviting. The restaurant served reasonable food, but nothing to go home and rave about. Their lamb chops and barramundi are however, great. Room was comfortable and clean. We were unlucky to have a room that from 8pm to 8am was flooded by the unusual piercing, continuous noise that we concluded was coming from a power box that was on the other side of the room's wall. So, we didn't sleep for a week! Despite speaking to their senior staff (stuck up with their own importance) we got promises they will change our rooms and then nothing. And that is what I had an issue with; how they dealt with our complaint and how much they cared! So, if you have an opportunity to come to Uluru, which is by the way amazing, stay at the place that they will look after you. Sails will certainly charge you an arm and a leg for it, so maybe just be more assertive with their senior staff. The young ones will delight you.

Room Tip: One that does not have a power box on the wall.

Dear ADL7777,
Thank you for taking the time to write your review.
I am glad to see that you found our indigenous employees delightful and easy to talk to. I will be sure to pass your kind comments onto the team.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience the loud noise outside the room caused you and the poor customer service you received from our senior staff. I can assure you this is not the usual standard of customer service delivered by the Sails in the Desert team and I will discuss this with the Rooms Division Manager to ensure it does not happen again.
Kind regards
Andrea Nestle

Had a lovely four days here with my two daughters, had a terrace room overlooking the swimming pool which was great, sun loungers, day bed, table and chairs, balcony was nearly as big as the room. The room was beautifully decorated, and the beds so comfortable. Good mini bar with plenty of variety of drinks and snacks. Restaurants in the hotel were really good with wonderful food, prices are on par with the rest of Australia, breakfast was superb great variety with everything you could possibly want. The staff were all so friendly and very efficient. We hired a car for the four days and found this to be the better option as we could do what we wanted whenever we wanted. Would certainly recommend this hotel, we couldn't fault it in any way.

Room Tip: we chose the terrace room, which had a huge balcony and great facilities.

Drove from Alice down to Uluru via the Mereenie Loop and this was the last stop on our trip having stopped at Alice, Glen Helen and Kings Canyon previously.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but this was by far the best hotel on our trip. Very nicely done on the inside, good staff, beautiful rooms, good mini bar choice/ snacks in the room. We didn't eat in the hotel but the restaurant choices looked very good.

My only grumble was that the rooms were poorly signed around the reception area and we spent about 10mins walking around trying to find the right direction to the room (not helped by the key card not working when we finally found the room).

On the expensive side (on a par with Kings Canyon) but soooo much nicer!

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Clearly you are paying top dollar but considering the remote location this was definitely worth it. The service was good and the room was spacious and well equipped. The pool was excellent - and very tempting in the 37 degree heat.  We found the free washing machines to be an unexpected bonus!

The restaurants are pricey as you might expect but you can easily explore other options within the resort using the free shuttle bus.

We spent two nights here, and enjoyed the experience very much. We had an upstairs room with a balcony which looked over the gardens, stylish, spacious and comfortable. It was all very luxurious and we enjoyed the care of all the staff. We ate once in Ilkari, the 'interactive meal' which we found rather confusing. The explanation of how it all worked was given at a gabble, so we found ourselves wandering around wondering what to do, and we didn't even find out the price till the end - well, we should have asked obviously but had decided just to enjoy the food. This was indeed delicious, but we did feel the price was rather high, and our plates were whipped away rather quickly; our waiter was a little TOO enthusiastic really. We also ate in the 'village centre', great sandwiches and milk shakes at the training café and a good lunch at Geckos. There is a useful tourist office and some nice shops, and also various free activities going on in the mornings.

We did a sunrise tour including walking through the Walpa Gorge and breakfast in the bush with Alex and a sunset walk round Ayers Rock and a glass of bubbly with Jess and James, and both were really good, but we were certainly relieved that the temperatures were in the low 30s rather than the 40s they had been the previous week, as I don't think we could have managed it otherwise! We spent the time in between lazing around in the pool area and walking to the viewing hill opposite the hotel, and benefitting from the free Wi-fi in the very spacious and comfortable lobby.

It would have been nice to have stayed longer and see a bit more of the resort, such as the camel farm, or visited other parts of the Red Centre such as Alice Springs, but the budget and itinerary didn't allow. We'd certainly go back for another couple of days if we were ever back in Australia.

Room Tip: Upstairs is better if you can get it, so you aren't bothered by people coming past your sitting...

This was our first time to Uluru and we felt relaxed the minute we stepped off the plane. All the staff made you feel welcome and delivered great service. We really enjoyed the variety of eating establishments and especially enjoyed the set-up of the bar and bbq area at the "Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge" and the quality of food at Mayu a la Carte.

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel and it was a very good experience. The rooms are spacious with 2 queen size beds, desk and a big bathroom with shower in the bath tube. It is well decorated with a well sized terrace and a good minibar selection. The information upon check in is clear and good. There is free wifi in the lobby but for the rooms it is charged with a reasonable package rate of 30$ for 3 days and a very good connection. I was too tired to go out after the many trips I did in this area and I ordered twice room service which came within the expected time (15-20min) and was good quality food. All in Ayers Rock Resort is at walking distance from the resort like supermarket and some restaurants. If you are eating in one of the other resorts you can still charge it to your room as all resorts are connected. If you want to pamper yourself after a full day of exhausting trips, this is a great place to relax; it is not cheap but I would go back here if I would ever return!
