This was my third stay at Sails in the Desert, and, once again, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The hotel decor is beautiful. The restaurants are fantastic. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The room (terrace room ) was so comfortable and loved having the terrace.
Only complaint was the poor quality food at the Sounds of Silence dinner...I have been on two previous occasions and the food was fantastic. However, the rest of the evening was fantastic...a must !!
Will definitely keep returning to this beautiful, spiritual place !!

Room Tip: If budget allows, choose the terrace room...it has wonderful day beds and a beautiful outlook over t...

Sails in the Desert is a great location for Uluru. The rooms are a little tired, but impeccably clean. Lovely king size bed in the deluxe room, and a selection of very comfortable pillows. Hot water was hot and plentiful, although I prefer a walk in shower room, this was OK. The carpet is custom made and quite special. The reception is good and public areas very nice. Pool bar is efficient and the coffee well made. Ikari Restaurant was the only disappointment, but Bough Restaurant at the sister hotel Outback Pioneer was a highlight.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a balcony looking out to Uluru. Do use the viewing hills in the resort to wa...

While it is a great location, the hotel is beginning to show it's age. That said, it is better than the other hotels in that complex and the best place to stay in the village. The restaurant is still awfully slow 14 years after our first visit. Not enough staff for the number of patrons and no speed.

Dear The2TravelingFools,
It is wonderful to see that you are a return guest.
The building is close to 30 years old but whilst that may show on the outside, we have undergone a rather comprehensive renovation of all room interiors and public areas last year, which I hope you liked.
Please accept my apologies for the slow service you encountered at our restaurant. It is saddening to see that this made you believe no improvements were made since your last visit 14 years ago. I will certainly have a look at what the reasons were, as our main restaurant Ilkari has become one of the highest rated outlets in Ayers Rock.
Kind regards
Andrea Nestle

We recently spent 3 nights at the Resort. It exceeded our expectations in terms of the resort itself, friendliness of staff, food and wine and the overall experience. We had one disappointment in terms of the Sounds of Silence dinner and this was immediately addressed by the Hotel team. A great short trip to a wonderful place.

Stayed for 2 nights.Good place to stay. Pool bar convenient for drinks and food after a day of walking. Ilkari buffet dinner excellent. The seafood was good quality. Room service was good also. Short walk to town centre.

My guide book said it was tired and expensively hyped. Sure it's expensive because its a desert resort but it was modern and smart. Not tired at all. Food very average and rather tasteless but reception allowed us to stay in our room longer than checkout time so we caught a flight out in great comfort. Would come back again, every time.

Room Tip: If you can book a verandah room on floor 2 (that floor 1 to Brits).

I went to Sails in the Desert in July this year and it was amazing! The staff were kind and very hospitable, the rooms were clean and spacious with very comfortable beds and it was a lovely walk through the garden to get to the hotel rooms. We were only a short drive away from Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and a short walk from the town shops. Also, you could see Uluru from the entrance of the hotel and some hotel rooms which was special in itself. We all had a great family holiday at Sails in the Desert and I will definitely return soon!
