“Not great and far too expensive”
Reviewed February 9, 2014 via mobile

Very, very basic accommodation and even more expensive. I guess because there's little choice in the Resort then the owners think OK let's go for it and get every tourist $ that we can it does seem to be the general attitude in the area.
We would not recommend this hotel, but to be fair, at the prices asked in what should be low season (Summer) I guess it's a case of they've seen us coming!!
However, we can recommend the dinner at Anguli restaurant in another rather better looking hotel, which needless to say is even more expensive.
Dinner wasn't cheap but it was excellent.

We only had two nights at this hotel, but we found that it had everything we needed. travelling with a wheelchair user we found all areas accessible, and the staff couldnt have been more helpful and friendly. When one of our party felt ill they were marvellous organising everything, checking that we were ok and getting transport to the clinic sorted.
Thanks again guys

Just the adventure of flying from Melbourne to Yulara, via Alice Springs, was special. To see the incredible desert isolation of the Northern Territory is an experience. The N.T is almost 3 times the size of Texas, and the 4th largest town is Yulara, population 1000. !!! You can go 250 miles in 3 directions and never see another building. Then you arrive at the village/compound of Yulara, a circular grouping of 4 hotels and a small village business section. Sort of a tiny Lake Buena Vista hotel circle, all now owned by the local indigenous tribe. This lodge is the most inexpensive of the 4, but still a bit higher than what would be normally expected. The name adequately describes the property. Once acclimated, it became the perfect choice for a visit to the area and of course, Ayers Rock. There are a dozen different ways to visit/view the Rock. One easy way is a short stroll from the hotel to a high sand dune about 500 meters away. Great at sunrise and sunset....and free. ( $ 75 entrance to the actual park + transportation).
Very clean, well maintained functional rooms in the main hotel area. ( there is a lodge/hostel adjacent).
Bar is open air, picnic table casual and fun, good music, flat screen t.v.'s, but with pricey beverages. The BBQ yourself restaurant is fun for those who want to " throw it on the Barbie".....and the small pizza/sandwiche outlet serves its purpose. Take the free shuttle over to Gecko's in the village for a meal or to another hotel for a true upscale meal.
Staff was excellent, friendly, and helpful. Unfortunately the free internet in the lobby was out the entire three days we were there.
All in all, an one time life experience / adventure worth the expense.
Caution: There is tour " Sound of Silence". Champagne and white linen dinner in the middle of the desert viewing the Rock at sunset. At $ 175 pp, do your research on the weather carefully.
The first half of our evening was wonderful even though it was cloudy. The second half was a total disaster that allegedly had "never happened before". Apparently recent rains caused early insect hatching. The candle light tables attracted every species known to the area. Literally swarming each table and the food service area so dense, at one point I could barely see the person sitting across the table !. Evening was obviously cut short and zero consideration for any compensation.

Room Tip: Request a room close to the main lodge/lobby area for convenience and in case of rain.

This hotel is only rated as a three star so thought it was good value for that rating, other hotels in resort generally more expensive. Very clean, room of reasonable standard, staff helpful and friendly.

Room was very basic. Staff were very friendly, and packed breakfast and the breakfast on site were very nice. The bbq where you cook your own meat was a good experience but quite pricey considering you cook the meat yourself. $22 for a burger. but you do get salad with.

We enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. The rooms were clean and the bed was perfect to sleep in. The pool is very welcomed during the heat of the day. Staff was always friendly and helpful. We loved the Bar - at most for Dinner with their BBQ and the live music and a cold beer. This had his own very specially atmosphere. We loved our days there and would highly recommend it.

We stayed here for two nights. The rooms are a reasonable size and have kettle, iron, hairdryer, etc. Amenties are basic, but our room was clean. However, what was disappointing were the staff.

Firstly at check in we asked about the trips and got fairly non-commital information which wasn't at all informative. We nearly didn't bother with the sunrise trip the cost was AUS$65 for what we were told was effectively just a bus-ride. We went for it - and it turns out that you get a time to spend in the museum area, plus a very good talk by a ranger who spends a good hour talking and guiding you round the rock. We could very easily have bailed on what turned out to be very good value for money.

When we returned from the sunrise trip to the Rock at 10.15 and tried to go for breakfast we were told that they'd stopped serving (even though the sign outside said 10.30am ...). Feel sure that a lot of people who do the sunrise trip would be up for having some food when they get from such an early start? Really thought they would have been used to that?!

We then walked to the "Town Square" and had shocking service at a cafe and were told we were being rude to the staff when we asked what had happened to a drink we'd ordered (it took so long we'd actually finished our food - and that was before we'd even asked what had happened to it ...). Perhaps we should have explained to the unpleasant individual there that we'd been up since 4 and were pretty hungry and fed up as it was nearly 11.30 ....

We got stung for extra charges for paying by credit card when we were checking out - would have been nice to have been warned when we checked in!

Not all bad, though, as there is a lovely friendly and helpful guy who works in the bar next to the barbecue area - think his name was Anthony? - he was great.

We very much got the feeling that the staff know you're going to stick with it as Uluru is the main experience - it was just a bit disappointing and we left feeling that they didn't really care if they got our business or not. Wouldn't recommend.
